Clarksburg WV

I'm about to move to WV and I'm wondering how the ridding is there. Actually I've never even been there. There look like a couple state parks near. Is it road ridding or trail ridding. I'm kind of scared of ridding alone with trucks and dogs. Are there groups I might be able to ride with?
Thanks

Clarksburg area is a wondeful place to ride. There are great roads, mountain biking, and rail-trails all not too far from Clarksburg central. I live in Pittsburgh, PA now, but I used to live on the PA - WV border so I was down there pretty often. I still belong to the club I was a member of while I was there, but unfortunately don't get down to ride with them much anymore. I make it a point to make their annual spring spectacular every year though. The folks in the club are a bunch of fun, and do all types of rides as well as picnics. They are very supportive of new members also. I added the club link below for you to take a look at.

Good luck on the move,

Denny

You're close to Morgantown WV and I know they have a couple of bike clubs. The bike shops can hook you up. As previously mentioned there are a bunch of rail trails in the area but if you ride roads you are going to have some serious hill climbing. I would hook up with a club because some of WV roads are tight with coal and lumber trucks hauling a$$. very scenic state to ride, ski, climb etc. Make sure you get down to the Monongahela Forest, very scenic. Enjoy it, great state, I go there often.

I live in western WV and believe the riding is great. I have not ridden around the Clarksburg area but I am sure you will enjoy it. The secondary roads tend to have little traffic and from my experience I havent had problems from motorists. The North Bend Trail is in that area. If interested I put on a metric century in May, Bridge to Ridge if interested. Grab a Delorme Gazetteer and explore.

By the way, gear your bike for the terrain.

Not sure if you are interested. This is a club from Charleston, about 120miles from Clarksburg.

Clarsburg, WV area biking

Scuba Girl,

You probably have already moved to Clarksburg by now and probably will not see this post since it is so old. If you are into mountain biking there are several good places to ride within 30 min to an hour from Clarksburg. Watters Smith State Park, Valley Falls SP, North Bend SP, Mountwood Park, and Coopers Rock SP are all good places to mountain bike. If you want to ride, let me know, I am new to the area as well and have no one to ride with. I haven't met anyone around Clarksburg that actually mountain bikes.

Cheers,

Steve
