Brooklyn Bike Jumble 5/31
From the press release:
BROOKLYN BIKE JUMBLE
New York’s only outdoor bicycle flea market
On May 31st, JJ Byrne Park and the Old Stone House will be hosting the first Brooklyn
Bike Jumble, New York’s first outdoor bicycle flea market and celebration of New York
City bicycle culture.
The event will be held in the park, on Fifth Avenue between fourth and fifth streets, in
Park Slope, Brooklyn, a center of bicycle commuting in New York City.
At this one-day-only event, private non professional vendors will be on hand to sell
bicycles, bicycle components and clothing to the public. Low cost bicycles will be
available to beginners young and old. In fact, concurrently with the Jumble, riding
lessons will be offered that day to kids!
There will be an area where enthusiasts can sell and trade bicycle parts. Attendees
looking for kid’s bikes, cruisers, BMX, mountain, racers, fixed gears or any wheeled
pedal powered machine will find it here.
Vendors include New York City based cycling oriented companies and oranizations such
as Outlier, selling their US produced high tech yet classic commuting wear, and Bicycle
Paintings by Taliah Lempert, selling, t-shirts, posters and coloring books celebrating
famously beautiful bicycles as well as Recycle a Bike, with their low cost safe used
bikes.
There will also be a classic bike show highlighting beautiful machines with an emphasis
on bikes with strong ties to New York.
Tables for private vendors will be available, pending availability, until the day of the
event. For more information go to www.nybikejumble.com.
The event will begin at 10 AM and will close at 2PM.

Lots of good stuff. Whoever was looking for a 53/39 crankset probably could've found it here. Plenty of componants, bike clothes, tires, and of course bikes old and new. I picked up a handmade bicycle cap by Taliah Lempert the artist who does bicycle paintings, and some cute little bike stickers.
Mr C's had plenty of stuff and Specialized had a booth. There were also plenty of individuals offering wares. A couple of people just taped "For Sale" signs to their bikes.

I saw a pair of brand new old stock Sidi shoes, not that old though just last years or maybe 2 years ago style. Thought they were in my size, but when I went back later in the day and tried them they were too small. Sidi's sizing is strange. Other than that I think I had the best looking bike there in my Zilioli. a year or two ago I'd have probably bought a thing or two but I feel all set with bike gear now.
