Five Boro Tour - Metro North

I "won" the lottery and got into the NYC Five Boro Tour. I would like to take the train into NYC from New Haven. Has anyone had experience with taking a bike on that train?

I took Metro North for the Bloomin' Metric a couple of years ago. You should check with MTA to find out if there are any additional trains running that day and whether they'll waive the Bike Permit requirement for the event. Otherwise you should pick one up for $5. Once you're on the platform the conductor will usually instruct you as to which car to use. Going to East Norwalk we used the dining car. On the way back we just packed into the last car on the train. Bring a bungee cord so you can strap your bike to a pole or rack.

Stacy's got it. As long as it's an off-peak train, you should be fine. I'd recommend picking up the $5 Bike Permit anyway...it's lifetime!

When I first started reading this sentence I thought it was going to say something like "My dermatologist rode the five boros and all I got was this lousy sunscreen" or some such similar joke.
