29er and/or road around Adirondacks?

Hi all. i have a 2 week vacation coming up and was looking to go somewhere ( where I don't have to spend a lot of $). I am in Rochester NY and a friend mentioned the Adirondacks for riding cause he knows I'm into bikes. So, does anyone know of any good areas to go to ride/stay? I have a 29er and a road bike. I would like to get time in with both if possible. But, the 29er is priority since there isn't many places to use it's potential around here. I am a novice. So nothing crazy. I would even go somewhere else (Pennsylvania, etc) if you guys can suggest something better. Don't really want more than about a 4 hour drive though. Thanks

The weather here has been perfect for the last two weeks, only one day would I call hot. Lots of good places to ride, lots of lodging or camping choices. Don't stay in Lake Placid if you want to save money. Saranac Lake is young, hip, and Bohemian downtown, with nary a chain restaurant. DO NOT stay at the Hotel Saranac. The scenery is gorgeous no matter what direction you head in. LP Ironman is in 2 weeks, so you may not find a place to stay unless its as far out as Tupper Lake.

Biking runs the gamut, plenty of info on line.
