Road/Mountain Biking in or near Ellicott City, MD

I'm going to be down there for a wedding at the end of October and I'm going to have a day to do nothing, so I figured I'd bring a bike down to ride. Is there good road riding or mountain biking down there? I'm going to be staying at the Turf Valley Resort, so anything within 10-15 minutes of there. Thanks!

EC is a great place to ride, hilly but worth it.

Check ridew/gps, mapmyride, etc for routes of whatever size you like.
Loose thoughts:
Trolley trail is a great way to gradually climb out of downtown EC. Then take Edmondson up towards Leakin park
or, take frederick rd to River rd, then left over the suspension bridge onto the Grist Mill paved trail through Patapsco state park. (great mtb trails there too)
or, go straight on River and test your stava timing on one our best hills- Ilchester
if you want simple long distance you can get on Frederick rd and safely ride all the way to Frederick, MD (abt 80miles RT)
Downtown EC is historic, artsy, quirky and fun. Enjoy.

Yes, bring your bike. There are plenty of awesome roads all around the Turf Valley area. The resort is bordered by Marriottsville Road on the west side. Beautiful road! Take it north as far as you want and loop back. Plenty of options.
