US6 Bear Mt Bridge NY area
Is it legal to ride US6 along the north side of Bear Mountain. I see Seven Lakes Drive to US202 as an option after already some of the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Is that the route you have to take or how do I get from US6/Palisades to across the Bear Mountain Bridge. I know they have the sidewalk that AT thruhikers cross BMB on. I'm looking to go across part of NY on US6 east of I87 to Connecticut.

I rode in the area last year, and while I didn't get much on the bit of Route 6 north of the mountain, my impression was that it while it was scenic, it was also wall-to-wall cars, narrow lanes, and no shoulders.
Ah, here are some pics of the area: https://www.alpsroads.net/roads/ny/pip/
Yeah, looking at the bit with the Bear Mountain section, it would be fine if you had little traffic, but dicey otherwise.
