Did "backordered" happened to any of you?

Did "backordered" happened to any of you?
I ordered a Giant bike at a local store, but they don't have the size for me so they ordered one. Half a month later when I called them the status is "backordered". And now it was more than a month ago. Any idea What's happening?

It's kind of the end of the season here in the US (a huge market for any bike mfgr) so perhaps Giant is out of that size and perhaps in between bike line runs as they start looking at 2014 models???
Or there might be a supply problem or something in the distribution chain. I searched and only found articles around 2011 just afte fukushima, there was a spike in bike demand in Japan itself...
