Nice pics Joe. I put a flat bladed screwdriver tip about a 1/2 inch into my L palm yesterday afternoon. Needless to say I cannot grip a handlebar till it heals. Maybe a kayak trip would be OK.

CENTURY RIDE!!! *
*spread out over 2 days https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f08607e67.jpeg Wind is more manageable with a group of 10. Seen on MUP today; 1 man on e-bike, wearing Speedo, appearing to be slathered head to toe in oil. Ick. 1 man on MTB, wearing a Santa suit. Yes. |

Not so much local riding. Been traveling some for vacation but brought the bikes. My eldest decided to join me on a short ride to the local village for a july 4th weekend car show. On the second to last hill she wanted to know if there was a shortcut, told her this was, so she wanted to know if there was an easier way to get there, nope, the other routes are harder.
Not a bad average for an 11yo, was actually 12.4 rolling but a water break killed the average, and she even made the last hill that so many tourists riding through end up walking. Made the same trip when I was her age solo on the neighbor's 12sp raleigh pursuit, I had to walk half the hills but in my defense the raleigh at the time had a 42/28 easy gear and steel rims, not her 40/34 and carbon rims. Just endless rollers. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...911fa73375.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9c93cd3143.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...92e84b1fde.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d25ea552c0.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3e1952b527.jpg |
Perimeter ride today, caught video of the repaving of East Hillside Cemetery Road at the junction of 107 and Glen Cove Road

Nice weather today.
|
Some great weather lately!
First went south, next day north. Both 46 miles IIRC. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e325bd259.jpeg Captree boat basin. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...4ff55590d.jpeg Crab Meadow beach, East Northport |
Rode to the end of the boardwalk in Sea Cliff.
|
Evening ride, nice and cool.

Today, not so cool, but breezy. 58 miles, rode through several sprinklers. Saw a man watering flowers with a hose on Scholar Rd and asked him to spray me, which he did with evident glee. Actually I think he enjoyed it as much as I did.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...2698dc417.jpeg Sunken Meadow Creek. A couple of retrievers splashing happily, oh the humanity. I used to bring my pooches here. |
Today’s ride went down Glen Cove Road, Bryant Avenue, Roslyn Road , Warner Avenue, Mineola Avenue, Willis Avenue, Jericho Turnpike, and Mineola Boulevard.
|
Well, it's actually Wednesday, but I appreciate the sentiment.......

M318 at Bellerose https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...fb1ec97d4.jpeg M318 at Bellerose https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...099d4c9cf.jpeg M222 with new Cantilever Rack, unit sits lower and straddles the rear wheel better, making better use of the space created by the wheel well. Also lowered the center of Gravity Rode 18 miles on the M318 this morning , stopped at Bellerose LIRR. Afternoon ride was 5 miles on the M222 , with a new lowered Tailbox. It seems I had the wrong size rack, intended for a smaller bike. Rack was designed assuming it needed more clearance to clear the rear wheel. I actually have a larger size bike, and it needed a rack that «drops» two inches. It’s better now. |
4 idiots out in the heat, we cut things short to 29 miles. Actually wasn't bad cruising along on the flats at 18-19 but climbing and waiting at traffic lights was not nice.

I've been doing 40 miles rides starting at 6:00am and back by 9:00am.

The Grant's Tomb crit/ NYS crit championship was this sat, obviously at Grant's tomb. Took the kids to compete, I wanted to as well but my race was at 7:30 and it would have meant hanging out with the kids for 5 hours between their race and mine and that wasn't going to work well. But we came home with 2 NYS crit champions for their age categories, though the oldest didn't have competition for girls her age, she was still 4th overall for the competing age ranges, for boys and girls, and put some real effort in it.

Solo 32 this morning, really nice weather for a change, buddy had to bag so was solo from home, was trying to cut across from east Farmingdale to the bike path in the morass of dead end roads that is this section of Farmingdale, I should have paid better attention to the map on my GPS, ended up on an unknown single track hiking trail on my skinny tired road bike for 3/4 a mile. Silly me,
