Yes it has, I was talking to a couple of other cyclists and they said they tried to ride there the last couple of Sundays and it was closed due to runners having races.

Surprisingly OK conditions at Bethpage for a 10 miler on the mt. bikes with 2 buddies. Went north to Old Country, not much mud, but it didn’t freeze so maybe surface water drained off. I thought it was going to be marginal after yesterday’s rain, but it was pretty good.
We got lucky with a mechanical on my buddies FS Jamis. He was hearing a rattle (with my hearing, I’d never have known), looked down and found his rear disc rotor held on with one bolt, out of 6. Front had 2 missing. As they are torx head bolts we had no way to tighten with no tool for that. Not a new bike and he likely never thought to check. It was also his first time on the bike since last fall. Got back to the car with no issues.

Glad to hear your knee is again trail ready.
Glorious morning, eh? I love frosty mornings, reminds me of many mornings walking out to a deer stand in the dark, watching the sun come up, and all the frost glitters like gold. Then you can sometimes literally hear the tipping point when all those million crystals all melt at once.
Unfortunately my wife went out onto the deck early, found it very slippery, and at that point no force on earth could get her onto a bike today. She is philosophically opposed to sliding in any form.
So, got on a road bike & went to our vet in Roslyn to pick up refills on the dog's meds, turning a chore into a decent 40 mile ride.

They painted just the area and it looks great. They removed a clear protective cover on the chain stay so i'll most likely replace it. I already have it partially assembled, just don't have the crank bearings and gonna replace the brake cables.

Beautiful crisp morning, got a decent contingent to go out to Manorville Hills. Trails are in great shape, frozen solid this morning, even though I think it got a bit above freezing as my usual Gatorade slushie failed to form. I was the only rider on a steel bike, only one on a hardtail, and only one with rim brakes. All this may have to change as my fork is still refusing to hold air, and supporting it is like trying to get Model T parts.....

No we drove out to Manorville. Some of us met in the BP lot at 830 to carpool for the long trek east.

This morning we meandered around BP, then went north as far as Washington, and then meandered more, 18 miles total. I seem to have hopefully fixed my fork by adding another 3cc of 20w-50 to the air piston, and it held pressure. Still, the bike is 25 years old.........

I've a steel Fuji, modeled/copied from the Ritchey P2? something, I've ridden since '91. It has a RockShock Judy fork Doug at the Junkie sold me for $50 as it had a 1" fork. It rides great but like all bikes at the time, wasn't designed to have a shock on the front so handles slower than my Specialized FS. Weighs about 4-5 lbs less though. Not sure what I would replace the Fuji with if I ever had to.

My steel Kona came with a very light Marzocchi shock which worked great but leaked oil like a pasta strainer and required IIRC no less than 5 tools, some of them proprietary, to service. It was also a 50mm travel; when I replaced it I went with an 80mm which jacked up the front end and slowed the handling noticeably, but I got used to it. Now 80mm has in turn gone the way of the dinosaurs except for cheap boat anchors as far as I can tell. If it really dies I might just put a light rigid fork on, sell my MB-2 to a collector, and go full dark side & get a modern soft tail. Even a Luddite like myself has to admit things bike have come a long way in 25 years.

Cabin fever hit hard this evening so I gave the dog a Xanax and headed out for a short night ride. I started in B'page and went north to the Tower loop, puttered around up there and the blue dot for a bit. I guess I didn't realize how much rain has fallen and I found serious mud. If I had known I'd probably have stayed home and taken the dog's Xanax myself in the interest of not making things worse.
Still a nice fairly warm, windy evening. It's cool to be in the woods and hear it roar overhead. There is a buck staking out his territory up by the blue dot.

How about 25 and just enough of a dusting to make it pretty?

Out to Manorville Hills again with a fairly large group. Trails were amazingly dry, just a few greasy spots at low points, and quite warm. I rode my Kona to see if I have succeeded in fixing the fork leak. I have not. AAARGH.

Did a quickie mt. bike spin at noon at BP. Parking lot was closed, went in from Evelyn. Burning off the traditional Christmas Eggs Benedict my wife makes. Condtions pretty good, it did freeze in sections last night.
I have to remember 2 things. 1) Take pictures. Oldnslw and Joe remember to, I don't. 2) Bring milk bones for the dogs. Lots of dogs today, good place to walk dogs and they always seem happy and well behaved off the leash. I can't think of a better place to walk a dog, regardless of the NY Nanny State BS rules.
Merry Christmas to all.

Lots of dogs out that day as well. I like your idea of stuffing treats into jersey pockets. Other than occasionally running over a poop I can't ever remember any kind of conflict with dogs in there and never an unpleasant interaction with the owners either. My own old mutt is too infirm for that now, but I like to think that when he's snoozing and the paws are a' twitching, he's dreaming of better days.
Today, though, 50F and sunny meant road ride, and even better, tandem ride! Lots of people in the lot, doing long rides, but the aforementioned mutt has killed our riding time and fitness this fall, so we took a 37 miler, group of 4, to Gemelli's in Glen Head, keeping the speed down around 18 and uhhhh, occasionally a lot slower.......

We (3 of us) rode out of BP right before ya'll all rolled this morning. Likely should have waited an hour for the roads to dry as I had 2 rear flats. My fault on the 2nd I was in a hurry to fix and missed the sliver of glass. Fortunately I had 2 tubes, 2 CO2's, but wasted 20 minutes fixing, so didn't get in the mileage. The wind was killing us as we went down the LIE, where it was supposed to be "drier", it wasn't

I was shocked at the number of riders......but all the groups were shooting for 50 or so miles and we didn't want to stay out that long. For December, I'll take it. I may ride the woods tomorrow, see how tired I am.
