It seems to be closed until Sept. 30, 2018.
"The Closure of Calaveras Road to thru traffic between Milpitas and Sunol has been extended to September 30, 2018.
"The Closure of Calaveras Road to thru traffic between Milpitas and Sunol has been extended to September 30, 2018.
The road had also been closed on weekends and holidays because of a land slide that undermined the road within the closure section. We anticipate the road to reopen for weekend use sometime in 2018. Please keep checking back for schedule details.
This is due to storm damage along this stretch of road. Under normal conditions and the construction schedule, Calaveras Road would be open to thru traffic on weekends and holidays. However, this is no longer the case, and the road will remain closed every day to all traffic until further notice.
Please avoid this area and use alternative routes."

Note the line "We anticipate the road to reopen for weekend use sometime in 2018."
We are in contact with SFWD and are optimistic that the road will be open weekends in the next couple of months. Repairs have been made, but the reroute was off of the county right-of-way and paperwork must be completed. SFWD will continue to use the road weekdays through September 2018. As we receive more information, we will share it on our Primavera email list, Facebook page, and all of the forum communities we have posted this in.
Thanks!

>> Use of Calaveras looking good for Primavera Century <<
The San Francisco Public Utility Commission (SFPUC) and Alameda County have agreed to open Calaveras Road exclusively for the Primavera Century, subject to additional insurance, permits and other conditions. We are thrilled to be able to return to the iconic Calaveras Road, and are in the process of meeting the conditions set by the SFPUC and Alameda County.
Calaveras Road will not be open to the general public at all, until later in the year. During the Primavera Century, one of the conditions is to have a Sheriff checkpoint at each end of the segment, and only riders with Primavera bike numbers will be allowed through.
For those who were waiting to register until hearing about the status of Calaveras Road, you should sign up quickly, as there are limited number of spaces remaining. For those who can't make the ride, there are no refunds or roll-overs, but we do have a free transfer system. If you do not know someone looking to ride, Craigslist and our Facebook page are popular sites. Please sell your registration for $80 or less. No scalping!

We still need volunteers. To volunteer, go here: Primavera Century: Volunteer
