Lightbulb Regularly Scheduled Sacramento Area Vintage Rides Beginning in September

Colleagues,

I am working with a few people in the Sacramento area vintage bike community to try to get a regularly scheduled vintage ride going for the Sacramento area. Looking at posting the rides on the third Saturday of the month. Routes will be between 25-40 miles without too much climbing. Social pace rides are the goal. Start/finish locations will have plenty of parking and be near places to get food and refreshments before and after the rides.

Still a work in progress but we will post more details as we get closer. Will likely have an informal shake out ride of the September 17th route on August 13th if you are interested in joining us. Ride will leave from the Starbucks in Gold River and use roads on the upper American River Bike Trail and surface roads in the Gold River area. Will post a RidewithGPS and start time in the next few days.

In addition, I have started a Facebook group called “Camellia City Vintage Lightweight Cycling Group” to post the ride information for vintage bike enthusiasts who are not active in Bike Forums. Not much content yet, but I will use it to post details and get ride related information out going forward. You are invited to sign up on that but I will also make sure same info goes here.

We will be scheduling the first group ride on Saturday, September 17th. We have a 27 mile route mapped out and we are going to test ride the route on August 13th to make sure it is a good route for our purpose.

Hope to see our Sacramento area vintage cyclists at this or future rides. I will also use the Facebook page to give our group information on vintage rides put on by other groups in the Sacramento Valley area.

That would be great! I am trying to set something up for the Sacramento community like they do in the Bay Area and Pasadena. I have hosted two vintage rides through Cycle Folsom but there are only a few of the club members who are also interested in vintage rides. There are annual Davis Bike club rides that are vintage, usually in October. I will post info about those, too.

We did our first Eroica this year on our Ramato’s and don’t take the time to ride them often, this would be a great opportunity.

Maybe a second dress rehearsal on Saturday August 20th? For those of you from "out of town", this is (likely) what you can look forward to on September 17th
