Local for sale forum?

I'm looking to sell my mtn bike and trade up to a nice hybrid. I know about craigslist, but was curious if there are any other local Bay Area spots to list it for sale.

Mods: I am not trying to sell it here, just curious as to where else I can advertise it for sale.

Thanks.

Good question, I'd like to know, too. Other areas have some pretty active Facebook swap groups but there aren't any around here that I know about. Let me know if you find anything.

Forgot about Facebook. I deleted it off my phone, I was tired of the constant notifications so I don't go on it much anymore.

I posted on a few local non-bike forums that I hang out on. I'm in no hurry to sell anyway.

One other semi-related question. Does anyone know where to get a good deal on a Specialized bike in the bay? Is there a high volume dealer that is willing to deal on the prices? Looking for a carbon sirrus elite.

Good timing on this post. I just listed my bike for sale on CL and I'm not happy with the "buyers" who are emailing me. You have to sort through the scammers to hope to get 1 or 2 legitimate people. CL is a mess!

I have the same guy on cl lowballing me from 2 years ago. Changed my mind on selling last time but coincidentally the same guy hits me up for the bike with another much lower than asking price offer. Checked my email and the same header name on the emails from 2 years ago as todays emails. eNitra is the name. I asked if he was a tire kicker or a serious buyer, also asked if he was a bike flipper and he never responded back. CL is a mess indeed.

I'm curious if there is enough interest for a local for sale sub forum in the nor cal section? I frequent a Jeep forum and our local nor cal chapter has a seperate locals only for sale section. Isn't super busy but i have sold some stuff with little problem.

I'm not sure why it's not allowed here, other than this turning into a spam site. However, that's not going to stop spammers they'll just get banned and posts deleted. But why not allow some sort of subforum or even just another thread within the NorCal forum for selling? That's what the mods are here for...to cut out the spam/garbage from the legit posts, right?!

For some reason the only place to sell on BF is to pay for a membership upgrade, and post in a catch-all Marketplace forum, which isn't too helpful, IMO. I'm much more likely to come to NorCal (or whatever my local area is) than a separate marketplace forum for everyone from everywhere.

I don't see having a paid forum membership as a problem to be able to sell items here. It cuts down on people who sign up only to sell their stuff. The current central marketplace is cumbersome and not very helpful for local sales. I'm not active enough here to have any real or useful input on changes. I use the site for research and mostly lurk rather than post up and participate in discussions.

I use BooKoo (app) up here in the Travis/Fairfield area. See if they have one near you.

Just to wrap this thread up. I wound up finding a buyer. The guy drove out from Elk Grove without asking many questions and bought it on the spot.

If you aren't getting any responses to your ad more than likely your asking price is too high. Drop the price down every week or so until you get some interest. Your bike is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Be patient and hope for good buyer to come along.

That's what I'm doing. I gotta get rid of the bike so I'm just going to keep lowering it until I can't go any lower.
