S.F. Sports Basement

I am in S.F and went into the Sports Basement store near Fort Mason. Wondering if anyone had experiences with their rental bikes, bike purchases, mechanical services there?

I can't speak to the Presidio location, but I have found SB's bike departments tend to vary by store. For example, the Walnut Creek location is excellent. The guys (and gals) in the bike shop really know their stuff and are super helpful. Their mechanics are also excellent and I would trust them with just about anything. The Berkeley location...not so much. San Ramon is too new to pass judgment, but let's say they didn't blow me away. Put another way, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a bike from the WC location, but I'd have reservations about buying from Berkeley or San Ramon.

So what's my point? Well, it's that SB is capable of excellent things, especially the bike department. The quality of service tends to be hit-or-miss by location.
