Enough of the rains
Time for the rollers--nothing is better than being on the roads!
Don't mind the rain when caught in it--but not starting!
I know I know "we" need the rain. . . but. . .

3.05" yesterday, and all day the streets were flowing with water in my neighborhood (live in a hilly area). The thing I'm worried about is tomorrow is supposed to be yet more heavy rain, coupled with strong winds. A day after getting 3 inches, then more rain and strong winds, I'm worried about trees coming down near my house.
As far as riding goes...I'm sick so it's not bothering me too much. I seem to have what everyone and their brother has around here...the painful cough is the most annoying part!

The rain sent me running for the cover of Zwift, I finally broke down and tried it.
Love at first sight!
50 miles yesterday, and 30 more today, my first 2 days using it.
I'm hooked.

Not sure why but decided to keep track of the amount of rain this year?
With two very different rain gauges--adding last night rain of another one inch and three quarter.
We are now over 23 inches!!!

Ended up with just over FOUR inches from Tuesday's deluge. That's over 10" since the start of the year for me, and over 20" for the rain year. That's crazy.
I'm also thankful that Mother Nature isn't screwing with us unlike last year where it seemed almost every time it rained, it was on a weekend. Scheduled to get a nice sunny break this weekend, but not sure how much I'll be able to get out...still dealing with Bronchitis. Energy finally coming back today, but it's probably a terrible idea to work hard and breathe the cold air outside.

I just ordered an ant+/BTLE bridge heart rate monitor so I could use Zwift with my iPad. Will come in handy next week. More rain.

Anyone been up Diablo (either way) since the last storms? Any issue with debris or flowing water on the road or any other hazards?

I went up North Gate Road to The Junction today, it was glorious.
No debris, no flowing water on the road.

I hope it rains every weekend on all of you! Says the person stuck working 7 and 1 12 hour night shifts for the next three months!
With Alhambra Valley being closed, -128 across from Lake Solano damaged, and several roads in the Napa area damaged, I don't have many long routes even available to ride if I could.

Well, the good thing is that more effort is being aimed at cleaning up roads. As long as it doesn't get too windy, this weekend should be an ace for riding.

yeah, life goes on. Same thing happened last year and I finally was able to start riding in April. I still managed over 2500 miles for the year. We go to Oregon for ten days every summer and almost every day is a 60 plus ride. the overtime now pays for the playing then.

Hang on to your hats (helmets) people! The storm tonight supposed to generate winds to 50mph and over 70(!) in the hills. If anyone gets a chance to go up Diablo after this storm I'd be curious to know how many trees are knocked over. I mean, the ground has to be like pudding by now then throw in a hurricane... This is gonna be nuts.

Supposed to be in store for a dry spell for at least a week, if not into the first weekend of Feb. Also above normal temps, so it should be nice weather for a bit.
Snuck in a ride up SG down NG in between the storms, and I was pretty surprised how good the conditions were. Not many rock or landslides, no downed trees, not even much debris on the road. There was one area where water was sheeting across the road, and another area where it looks like they had to clean up a landslide (which is probably going to keep coming down for a while), but overall the mountain is in great shape. Didn't go up to the top, so I don't know if Summit Rd was any worse.
Anyway, yes, let's have a break now, I've gotten over a FOOT of rain in January alone at my house.
