How about this weather huh?!

Maybe because it's fresh in my mind, but I don't remember such extreme temperatete and weather swings like this in a while. It was 45 up on Diablo on Wednesday with gale force winds, 100 at my house yesterday. Went over to Woodside yesterday and talking to some riders, they said it was as hot as they've ever experienced on OLH and Tunitas Creek. It was like riding in a sauna! My body is not handling this well... How's everyone else doing?

I don't have a problem with summer, but it's annoying these extreme and rapid changes. Again, looks like it's supposed to cool down next week, though hopefully not as cold and windy again... Pick a season!!!

Yep. I left a bit later than usual on Saturday, ended up riding in 104F and giving up even before making it to ranger's station on south road. I'm not handling the sudden heat well. I agree we seem to go from November to August from a day to the next. Not that this area ever really had well defined seasons, but I think these unsettled/extreme weather patterns are ridiculous and the new normal.

Wasn't quite as bad up on Redwood and Pinehurst roads yesterday but my body wasn't too happy with it. Felt ok while riding but got severe leg cramps after I got home. At least we live in an area where we can exercise some choice about the weather - i.e. if Diablo's too hot it may well be nicer on Mt. Tam.

From the NWS "Scientific forecaster discussion":

Otherwise, the roller coaster ride of temperatures continues -
warm to cool and back to warmer by the end of the week.

oh goodie...

I was outside this morning and silly me, I forgot my heavy jacket. Cold wind again...

(I'm a little obsessive over weather if it's not obvious)

Better man than me... Headed for Diablo North Gate, got about 2 miles in and had enough. Building fog higher up, hurricane in my face, I took my ball and went home crying. Try again tomorrow I guess. This is getting borderline depressing for me.

Yeah, I've turned down two days of good ride opportunities because of the morning wind and cold. On the other hand, it has been good running weather. I ran from CastleRock down the canyon, pounded up Burma to NorthGate & across Buckeye while watching a couple of cyclists fight the headwind up to the junction. It seemed like I was having the better morning ...

I recently saw an article that stated May was the hottest month on record ... where??? Definitely not in California!

The winds were screaming this weekend. I put in 120 miles and half of it was pain and anger. I was getting shoved out of the bike lane near the bay so I pedaled over to Foothill and the wind was still harsh.

300w, 13MPH.

I need aerobars!

Well, I PR'd Hamilton today, thanks to a gusty NW wind, so I guess I have to take the bad with the good... Also, nice day, upper 70s almost perfect. Looks like another quick hot up then cool down again over the next few days. Lol it ain't gonna end.

Last night's ride was awful - it was only 90F but I didn't handle it well... felt drained of energy and could barely keep the crank going.

In other news - my vet posted that she's seen four dogs with rattlesnake bites in the last two days.

Weird, I was kind of the opposite. I felt surprisingly good, despite the temps (and humidity). Rode NG, and over the 6 Strava segments, my power diminished steadily, but overall I didn't feel as bad as I thought I would. I was kind of hoping we'd not drop back to below normal temps, but it looks like that's exactly what's going to happen over the weekend. Ugh, acclimating is going to take into mid-July at this rate, and you know once the temps stop fluctuating so much, it's gonna be 95 every day, with 100+ degree heatwaves sprinkled in...

Hah! I escaped the Bay Area weather and had a great ride in SoCal.
Was down there to move my daughter out from college. Squeezed in a 27 mile beach ride with my buddy. Borrowed his LeMond Zurich and rode from Sunset Beach to Newport and back. Very comfy beach weather in the low 70's.
