Is Calaveras Road ever going to reopen?

I thought it was scheduled for mid-Sept, now it's Sept 30, and I'm sure it will be pushed back again. WTF is going on with that road, and will it ever reopen?

The reopening date has been listed as Sept 30 since last year, and I haven't seen anything suggesting this won't happen.

Oh really? I thought I had read Sept 15 at one point, but maybe I'm mistaken. We'll see if it actually opens on time, but thanks for the correction.

9/30/18 has been the date since forever... subject to change since it's coming up.

New opening date announced by SF Water today - November 3rd. Some BS excuse about Alameda county having to approve the repaired section as a public road.

Can't say I'm surprised, but at least the new target date is only an extra month out.

I think what really happened is the repaired road actually was part of someone's private property... dont know if they had to pull eminent domain or not, but this issue has been known to me for awhile now. Would have thought it was resolved by now.

Could be. One of the members of the Pleasanton bike commuters mailing list said that the SFPUC project liason told him that one the reasons for the delay is that Alameda county (I assume maybe the supervisors) has to vote on opening the road at a meeting on October 16.

The SF Water public liaison has warned that the re-opening of Calaveras Rd may be delayed again (beyond 11/2). The Alameda County vote went OK, but they claim there are still legal issues to be resolved.

I just wrote to the contact person at the SFPUC and heard back that (shock!) it's being delayed again, now to Feb 1.

You know...at this point, just say "opening delayed until further notice". This is a complete farce, and makes these people look incredibly stupid. You can be certain the Feb 1 opening will be delayed once again, so just save everyone the trouble. Sheesh, I almost feel bad for them, this is so embarrassing.
