goridebicycles.com closed

I went to goridebicycles.com last night and the site says they have closed :/

Seems like in today's market they would be doing really well.

The website also says go visit the new bike shop in the same location, so who knows. The lease expired and the owners couldn't negotiate a new one at a rent they liked? They decided it was time to retire and sell what they could (although in that case, you'd think the old website would give us more information than just "the new bike shop")? Something else?

In any event, it appears that someone thinks that in today's market, a bike shop in that location can do well, whatever the reason for Goride Bicycles closing.

Went to this bike shop a few times when I lived in Redwood City many many years ago.
Was it always Goride bicycles? I do not recall it being the name of the shop maybe 20+ years ago.

Sorry to see them close. The rents and home prices are crazy high in that area.

Prior to GoRide it was Garners Pro Bike Shop run by the Garners brothers. I purchased my previously owned Stella from them in 1977.

Thanks
Garners brothers sounds more familiar. Wow, looks like you still own the Stella . :thumb:
I'll have to research the brand latter.

My first road bike was a blue Schwinn my Dad bought me around 1982 to do my paper route and also ride to school. It got stolen and also had a Pro-lite cruiser? It also went missing.
Use to live by St Pius church. My dad still owns the house I grew up in.
I did not know much about road bicycles at that time I bought two Treks. One from a shop in Foster City and about 5 years latter I bought another Trek from Chain Reaction. I believe the owner of Chain Reaction bike shop was Mike.

And any RWC natives should check out redwood city memories on Facebook.
Lots of good old memories.:D
Sorry everyone to go off topic so much.:backpedal:

Ironically, but not surprising, is that bike shops are suffering from supply chain issues. Everyone wants a bike, but if you don't have any to sell, it makes it difficult to stay in business. Even the repair side is tough if you can't get parts.

Goridebicycles is not closed, they recently changed ownership. New owner is super cool, I think he owns another bike shop in woodside. Great people, I’ve gotten 2 bikes from them

New owners, new name. Bob (old owner) is saving the GoRide name for himself. Whatever it'll be called, the more bike shops the better.
