Oh, man! That's so cool. How old is the youngest one? Man, what a great way to spend time with your kids. I am working my oldest (7) up to doing a century, we don't have a tandem (yet) but she's done 50mi on a trail-a-bike without any problems.

Andy (Discovery) turned 6 this past November.... Gianni (KOM) is 8 (will turn 9 during the Tour...)

I'm up in Reno visiting family for the weekend. Took a road trip yesterday and was dropped off on HW 395 about 25 miles north of the town of Bridgeport. The weather was in the upper 30's and lower 40's so I had a backpack full of warm stuff to be able to layer after the climb up the highway. It was neat to drive by Monitor pass at the base, closed currently.

Josh if you want to try it out before making the plunge, we are close by and the stoker seat on our co-mo Periscope should scoot down to fit the 7 year old just fine.

Those are great photos/scenery, Bostic - how was your descent? It looks pretty darn chilly.

I rode up to Pt Reyes Station via Nicasio, then back via Samuel P. Taylor park on Sir Francis Drake.

What an amazing ride. The whole area around the Nicasio reservoir was blanketed in brilliant mustard, interspersed with verdant, lush grass. I wish I had a small camera to take with me riding. The ride through Sam. P. was cold and wet, redwoods have a way of doing that, but beautiful nonetheless. I spotted several hawks and a LOT of turkey vultures throughout the day, though oddly I saw no wildlife at all in the marshy areas near Olema...

Yep, there are a lot of Turkey vultures, probably after roadkill. I never get tired of riding in Marin. When you reach the Pt. Reyes turnoff, you can take hwy 1 to the right and go up to Marshall, then if you feel like it, continue on to Tomales, Valley Ford and Bodega bay, about 135 miles RT from SF. Next Jenner on the Russian river?

Got a late start yesterday, left home at 11:45. Rode Tasman/Capitol to Hamilton, did that climb. 2 hours, 19 minutes. Not too bad considering my best last year was 1:59:59; I'll be sub-2 in no time. I'm easily 10lbs heavier than when I did the sub-2hr. Some of the weight will come off, but a fair amount of it is muscle that won't help climbing :P

I didn't realize how cold it was gonna be. 44 degrees at the summit when I saw 70 on the way up. Descent was miserable w/out arm warmers or leg warmers. Second time I've made this mistake on Hamilton. Live and learn -- eventually, I hope. Also got a very nice tan/burn line on my arms. Quite dramatic how precise the line is. Whiteboy+first sun of the season+jersey that grips tight on the arms.

For the kids as stokers don't forget to consider crank arm length..... we use a set of shorteners from tandems east on the back.... as well, (middle) the child stoker kit cranks are from DaVinci and have the option of 125mm or 145mm.....

Finally got in a nice ride yesterday. :thumb: Took Pescadero to Alpine up to Skyline, then down Page Mill and Arastradero to Palo Alto/Mtn View where I met up with my husband to finish up a couple of errands.

Over 3400' in the first 10 miles! Not a bad warm up. :D

It was so beautiful on Alpine, will have to bring my camera with me next time.

Today I flew to chilly Winnipeg, too cold and snowy here for any riding.

I did a similar ride today. Up Page Mill, down Alpine to Pescadero. Delicious lunch, then Stage Road to Tunitas Creek. The first few miles up Tunitas was just amazing. Smooth pavement, huge redwoods by the creek, hundreds of little waterfalls. All you could hear was the flowing water. Best scenery I have seen so far. Did not bring a camera, but I don't think any picture would do it justice! It was getting chilly by the time I hit Kings Mountain.

Davis Bike Club 200km brevet. Davis, past Lake Berryessa to Pope Valley and return. 130 miles. Beautiful scenery, absolutely gorgeous weather.

Ramon, next time you are in Bridgeport, instead of waiting in the cold in town, head north-east of town and take a dip into the hot spring pools. It will be the perfect relaxation after a long ride.

sat: rode from castro valley bart to Mt. Diablo summit nonstop (barring a few stoplights in san ramon :/ )
sun: downtown oakland to martinez via tunnel/grizzly peak/bear creek/alhambra and out to lafayette bart

My sister mentioned that as well so that is something I'll look into next time. Yesterday the weather was all over the place so I did a few hill repeats up HW 431 to get in about 25 miles. It gets from very windy to boiling hot to freezing cold all within a few miles.

On Saturday my brother and I flew up to Gravelly Valley near Lake Pillsbury to do some unicycling. This is a gravel landing strip used by the US Forest Service but open to the public as well. There are a couple campgrounds right there by the landing strip and a network of dirt roads. The two most common activities we observed there were shooting guns and riding dirt bikes.

Unfortunately I got a slow leak in my tire after just a couple miles of riding and had to keep inflating my tire every few minutes all the way back to the plane. New tube and tire have been ordered though!

I flew us there and back .. and it's a rental plane from a local flying club :)

Sat: Usual round trip from Fairfield with the wife to Winters with a quick up and down on Cantelow and a stop at Steady Eddy's for a bite and some coffee. 45 miles or so.

Sunday, something new for me: Solo trip from Fairfield through Gordon Valley and then Wooden Valley to Monticello road (121). Stop at Moskowitz (sp?) corner for a rest and then on to 128 along lake Berryessa past the dam to Pleasant Valley road and back to Fairfield. 56 miles and a bit colder starting out than I had planned for. Damn head wind coming back down Pleasant Valley road on the run home kicked my butt.

That's really freaking cool. :)

BF Unicycle Ride! Silentben leads, everyone else falls down a lot!

I was going to do Pete's Morgan Territory today, but instead was lured south by Markopolo to ride a ~46 mile loop around Uvas Reservoir with about ~3200 feet of climbing in mostly rural contryside. Like the Morgan Territoy crew, we enjoyed fresh cool breezes and colder than predicted weather. :)

I rode my Palo Alto today after installing a new San Marco Regal sadle last night. The inagural ride was 46 miles, and this was the first time a saddle disappeared underneath me - I just never really felt it or thought about it all day. It's a keeper, and I like it MUCH better than the Brooks B-17 that is on my Cinelli. I sould've bought two!!

I skipped the Morgan Territory suffer-fest - instead I was on a TnT ride. We did our suffering on Page Mill instead! Did a loop that started near Burlingame, down through Woodside, over to Page Mill, back up Skyline to Kings Mountain (that descent was COOOOLD!)and back. 57 miles, about 5100 feet of climbing.
