So I received an email today. I will be marshalling at prologue again this year. Yey! Last time I had tons of fun doing it. Even had a chance to talk to one of pros. There was suppose to be a cop helpin g me, bu he was gone half the time. Still did a good job keeping motorcycle exit clear. :)
Anyone else going to be helping out at prologue, or just coming out to watch it?

Yes. My wife and I will be assisting riders when they are finished.

I'll be spectating, at the very least the SJ stage, but I'd like to go up for the prologue as well.

I'll be at the Prologue and on Sierra Road, waving my large Bear Republic flag. I'll have my daughter in SF though, so no course marshalling for me.

Where's some good places to get rider's autographs? did they have certain stations set up for teams to sign before or after the races?

This is my first time so I'd like to get pictures and autographs and stuff. :)

My plan is to watch the first riders start and then work my way to Coit tower and watch the favorites finish up the big hills to the tower. Hopefully my wife and daughter will be up for the walk. hehe!

Then maybe next year I can volunteer!

Thanks!
Gary

This is what I did last year; it's a great way to see the race. I got to just below the tower just as the race was finishing and heard from Johan Bruyneel that Levi had won it. Very cool. If you get there early, a lot of the riders warm up at team buses beforehand. The big protour teams are mobbed, but the US based riders are open to talking to you if you time it right. You can talk photos the whole time.

Well stop by and say hi. I will be somewhere on that course. :)

I'd like to check out the race when it goes though the Fremont/Milpitas area. Do they let fans line up along the course (like in the Tour De France)?

How early are the roads in the route closed to general traffic?

Yeah they allow people to line up along the course. I think only restriction (at least for the prologue) is the start and finish area. They have it fenced off.
Not sure how early they close the roads off.

Just ride your bike to wherever you want to watch the race. Last year Sierra Rd. was open to cyclists but closed to cars.
