Davis ride, 17 feb

This isn't a major ride, not a race, not a century. Just a casual ride from Delta of Venus cafe (100 block of B street) in Davis to the Fox and Goose pub in Sacramento. 15 miles each way.

open invite, casual, save your breakfast tummy space for fox and goose.

9AM, depart at 9:30

here's a question for you. I had a friend that lived in Davis, and according to him, every bike needs to be registered and have a plate? If that's true, will a non-local be ticketed for not have a registered bike?

Thanks

Naaaah. I've never registered one here.

on campus- the UCDavis campus, you are supposed to have one or you can get "towed" but they only do that at end of quarter or school year or something.

Mainly it's a deal oon campus to get a $75 "abandonment" deposit out of people.

On campus it's important to have your bike registered because so many are stolen and abandoned. That way you can get your beater commuter bike back. No one else I've seen bothers.

I'd join you on this ride but my regular ride with the Davis Bike Club is at the same time. Maybe next time.

Do you have a specific address or directions from someone coming up from San Francisco? I have family in Fairfield so if I'm up there Friday night maybe i can meet up with you guys. And a casual ride and getting to know other cyclists would be nice since I just moved back here from being in Dallas the last 5 years!

Hopefully I can make it or make other rides later througout the year!

Thanks!
Gary

I'll try to make it.... my schedule is a little wacked, so it's not for sure. It would be cool to meet some local BF folks.

About the registration, etc.... like they said its only the UC really. So many beaters get left that they have to have some kind of authority to take them... and probably fix/sell em. And its like 7-8 bucks.. not 75... and no PLATES!!

Delta of Venus cafe is ... 110 or 120 B street. Or, from the amtrak station, walk west along second street from G to B, turn left, go half block

This is supposed to become a monthly bangers and beer ride

You should also post this on the Sac Bike Kitchen's forum. I'm sure there are a few who would love to come out. www.sacbikekitchen.org I'm going to try to come out for this but my wife and I just had a baby so my time is not really my own currently.
