Unfortunately the lighthouse ride is sold out. I thought since you're in SLO, you'd know about it and would have registered in the 10 hours before it was sold out. If the BF contingent get together for dinner the Friday before (9/26) you should try to meet up then.
Check this thread for Lighthouse ride goings on. https://www.bikeforums.net/northern-california/416726-lighthouse-registration-june-2nd.html

I'm in the Sacramento area. Started riding again after a hiatus lasting about 8 years. Really enjoying it and have lost 15 pounds so far (about 2 months). I've got a Colnago Master Light (campy chorus 9) and a Bianchi San Remo for road, an old Fisher Joshua for MTB.

Welcome Joel. There are quite a few of us from the area and a planned BF ride is in the works. Most likely occurring when the century/race season is winding down. People are way too busy right now. Please join when it does happen.

I do most of my riding in the south county (Delta). How about you?

Considering my relative lack of fitness, and lack of knowledge regarding routes, mostly I ride the Am River Trail. We live about 3/4 mile off it in Rancho Cordova. It's also a good ride for my 6yo son. He's been riding with me at least once a week and is up to 11 miles at a stretch.

Greetings one-and-all in NorCal-land. My wife and I are in our mid-40s, live in Menlo Park, work locally in healthcare (I'm an ER PA, wife is PA student/onc RN). We tandem - anything from local 15 mile loops after work to longer stuff, like over the hill to Santa Cruz, or loops in the Sierra out of Murphy's and Twain-Harte. I have been a bike commuter for 28 years... from the cornfields of Indiana and the mountains above Boulder, Colorado - and now Menlo Park the last 5 years. We are looking forward to riding with you all sooner rather than later.

Hello all,

I'm new to road biking. I'm being introduced to it by GEE3 (thanks Gary). I am quickly finding out this sport is pretty addictive and not to mention expensive (again, thanks Gary). hee hee jk.

I live around the daly city area, near Skyline (HWY 35.. i think). There are tons of crazy hills here so climbing training is not an issue.

I hope to see some of you member at one of the future group rides.

Hey guys,

I registered a couple of years ago but I bought a road bike last week and I am excited to start riding. I live in Folsom, CA and I will be riding the American River bike trail.

I bought the Tommaso Imola used off craigslist. I wanted an affordable entry-level road bike to commute and enjoy. The guy I bought it off only road it one or twice before family matters prevented him from riding.

JoelS, sure sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Howdy, Well I stumbled onto this thread and was quite pleased. I am new bike commuter 6 mo. 1-2 days, now 4 x per week last 6 weeks, 26 miles round trip. Danville to Pleasant Hill. I Ride the sweetest bike, a Rivendell Atlantis. It strong for big old frame, and comfortable for my 54 year old tusch Going to do my first metric Century in Davis this fall. A word from a non cool guy rider. as you blow by me say Hi!, or wave. that's how you build community.

Hi I am Charles. I started riding in the early 70's for fittness for snow skiing. I used to do Mt. Diablo every Thue.&Thur. morning up North Gate Rd. then ride with friend every Sat.I used to do the Davis Double every year.In 92 I started having knee trouble and had to sag in on the Davis double a little after the top of the D.C. I kept riding until the mid 90's but buy then my left knee was sore all the time. So I quit riding and started getting fat.I started riding again in 2001 and was doing OK but not like when I was young.Used to use a 42-23 on Diablo now I don't think I could get my fat ass up there at all. In the winter of 05 I shattered my Scapula snow skiing. I was off work for 6mo's. I could not ride due to my shoulder any kind of presure on it would hurt big time. Anyway just started riding again and have to take med's before I ride as the shoulder socket still hurts when I ride. I have gained a lot of weight from not riding 270 lbs from 190 I am 58 years old.

Hi Charles,
Welcome back to cycling. Hopefully not grinding 42/23 will help with your knees.
See you out there.

My name is Brett and I met some of you folks at the Tandem Rally / Wheelsucker event a couple of weeks ago - I captained the Trek tandem with my wife, Lisa. I started cycling on a borrowed bike in 2005 because I made a bet in a bar to beat some running buddies in a Half Ironman. Since that painful start, I've been focusing mostly on the longer organized rides (Davis Double, Solvang Double, Marin Century), which I manage to grind through. I've never raced for time any bike-only events, which would be a good goal. I'm also interested in touring, of which I've done a little bit. We live in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland, so you'll see me mostly on Tunnel Road and points beyond riding my Moots or the Trek tandem with Lisa. I'm occasionally on the trails (and on the roads getting to the trails) with my Orbea Alma 29er.

My name is Eric, live in the East Bay, work in SF, started riding again about 3 years ago, and am branching out to group rides and such. I am zooming in on 50 yo so trying to make the most over the next couple of years...lol.

I have an Orbea Orca, Santa Cruz Blur, Specialized Langster New York, Tsubaki road bike (80's vintage), and soon will have a Langster Tokyo. No real specialty or strength, just like to ride my bikes alone or in groups.
