Tour de Napa - Aug 19
It's going to be a pretty ride. Any interest? I'm doing the metric. I heard there's only 800 slots left. Follow the link below for more info. I hope to meet some of you folks there.

The last time I rode the metric, 3 years ago, a young woman on a mountain bike towed her toddler son in a trailer. She rolled into each rest stop as I was leaving. This included Ink Grade.

I'm signed up for the century! See you there!!

I must be nuts to have signed up for this. Having done in Ink Grade this past Saturday when it was only 85 degrees out, I can't imagine riding the same route when it is 98 degrees out. I heard it was that hot there last year.

If I'm remembering right -- I've only done Ink Grade that one time -- it gets shadier as the climb progresses, right? Lots of redwood trees? |
Just reggied for the 100mi :)
Just signed up for the 100mi. Trying to do 2 centuries (metric or full) a month to make up for slacking in the beginning of the year.
I did this ride 2 years ago, and it was a bit hot. At the stop just before Ink Grade I took the large think pieces of ice (est. 3x5") and wedged them into the slots of my helmet, and made it up about 1/3rd of the grade before meltdown. My buddy said there used to be a pool stop at the top of the grade (owner of Cliff Bar's pad) but apparently it burned down a couple years ago, so I never got to experience what would have been a welcomed stop. |

One of the worst things people do on the Tour of Napa Valley is eat a large lunch, then start the Ink Grade climb a few minutes later. |
My dad and I are signed up for the century. I live in the Saratoga area if anyone wants to do some training rides.

I'm signed up for the century also.
