Most bikes nowadays have a doofy compact geometry with a sloping top tube, which means you have to jut the seatpost out really far to make up for it, whereas the bike above has a standard horizontal toptube.

The Fuso is done, picked it up tonight from Shaw's. I went ahead and rode it 25 miles this evening. I don't have an accurate scale but my informal tests were 19.5 lbs. That's a few lbs heavier than the Pedal Force. It also completely destroys the carbon bike in every way possible. This thing accelerates like mad, rides like velvet and gives feedback on the road without being harsh. And the hubs are darn quiet compared to the red spokes.

I'm thinking the Pedal Force is going to get some rest for a bit since this bike rides so darn well. 50/36 11-25 gearing. I took it up Moody road this evening to make sure the gearing works for the 11%-13% grade stuff.

ramon your fuso is hawwwt

terry said you'd been in the shop when i dropped the busted DS off after my crash but I didnt realize you were getting a new steelie built up.

another nice thing about steel bikes (aside from the ride, the look and the love) -- it was just $70 in repairs to get me running again. you can bet planting CF forks in the ground like I did would have destroyed them and likely the frame too. terry's comment when i picked it up was "You're going to have to work harder than that if you want to break this bike"

Yikes! Nice bike! I guess it's time for a Norcal STEEL ONLY (frame, fork) ride. No carbon, ti, aluminum, scandiwhateverium, bamboo, boron, and anything else I'm forgetting.

Here's our fun filled Kuwahara tandem which we bought new in 1986. It has Simplex friction shifters and uses the Suntour Barcon for the Arai drag brake. It's steel and bombproof!
