end of the year cycling goals

So I have one more "stretch" goal on the list for 2007 - get up OLH in 20:xx. Who else still has things on the list that you're shooting for before 12/31?

My goal stretches out to March '08. The goal is to commute to work through the whole winter. The only exception is through lightning storms, of course.

One goal before 12/31 is to go up Mt Diablo.

Great goals.
I'm thinking climb the three big Mts in the Bay Area.
And race in all five Pilarcitos CX races (and do better points-wise than last time).

climb the big 3 in the bay. Diablo(check) Tam(end of Oct), then Hamilton before end of the year.

at least 1 century before snowboarding season starts. then it's all snow sports on the weekend and the only time I'll see the bike is commuting to work everyday. Too bad I can't drive anymore, I'll be dodging cars in lighting storms.

Why not?

BTW, Tam on the Marin ride would be cool. I'm really looking forward to it.

yea, I thought that was the plan, the OCt 27 ride in Marin would include Tam.

And I don't drive because I don't get my license back until July 08.

Pardon me while I indulge in a little self-pity

My goal for the rest of the year is to be able to freakin' ride again !

I was going great guns this summer, especially in August, doing relatively long rides with lots of climbing. Long & with lots of climbing for me, anyhow.

Then, at the very end of August, I suddenly became very fatigued when I was riding, even on short, flat rides. My husband noticed something was wrong right off the bat, because all of a sudden I couldn't keep up with him on the flats (and before that I was consdierably faster than him) and he was keeping up with me on climbs (which hadn't happened in ages).

I figured I had been overtraining and cut back on my riding in September. But even that didn't help - I'd still get this godawful tired feeling come over me about 30 miles or so into a ride. So frustrating !

I even had to bail out partway through on the Waves to Wine this past weekend. By the time we reached the 40 mile point at Pt. Reyes I was absolutely spent, and even worse, it wasn't fun anymore !

My friends nagged me this weekend to get checked out by a doctor, so I have an appointment on Monday to see if we can rule out the usual suspects - low iron, hypothryroid, a virus, whatever. Pricess Zippy suggests I might have mono.

And, I'll just start from scratch with short rides and build up from there. I did it before, I can do it again.

In the meantime though, it's so frustrating not to be able to do the kind of rides I used to do just a couple of months ago. I didn't show up for Alan's Half Moon Bay ride because I felt awful the day before on a much shorter ride. The Long Distance group of my club (ACTC) is starting up their LDTR series this weekend with a 75 mile ride and there's no way I can do that right now. Gahhhh!

I'm telling you guys this to explain why I haven't been showing up for rides. But, enough of my whining. Hopefully I'll get to the bottom of this soon.

- Jo.

Wow! That's scary! I sure hope your doctor's appt will yield some insight into what's causing this tiredness.

In the meantime, take care of yourself and I wish you a speedy recovery!

Well that's a pretty respectable one. I guess in the back of my mind I always have a sub-20 OLH but I must admit I don't do much to further that specifically ("hoping" does not seem to work very well?!).

More likely goals are: doing a few cyclocross races, doing some of the Low-Key Hillclimbs, and staying/getting in shape for the early-season '08 RRs.

My main goals are to ride 500 miles in a single month (which will be hard, seeing as though I did 335 in September, the weather's not getting any better, and I have vacation coming up...) and to make it up Kings in less than half an hour. My best time so far is 34:10.

A metric century this Sat. (aka Lake Loop around Lake Berryessa, beginning and ending in Vacaville).

Foxy's Fall Century on the 20th.

A self-supported century in Nov. from Moskowite Corner to Santa Rosa and back.

Finding time in Dec. to ride at all. Now that our evening club rides are finished, I'm jonesin' bad.

Pete, whazzup? Do you still have that allergy or whatever problem that started up a month or so ago? You and I should form Team Walking Wounded.

Thanks for the well wishes, gang. I'll be back.

Henry, sorry, I forgot all about about my jersey - I'll send you a pm.

My goal till year end is to just have fun on a bike like when I started cycling last year. With racing & training & metrics sometimes you forget how enjoyable pedaling around can be. Club rides, adventures rides, I'm there. No heart rate monitor, no shaved legs & definitely no trainer time.

1/1, the base miles start. Ugh.

I'm getting all the answers to my tests today so I'm a bit apprehensive.. I had a scare Monday I went to the hospital and they found I had a temp of 105 and a 135 heart rate, I was dehydrated so they put me on IV. So far It looks like an inherited anemic blood disorder, my older sister had it complicated with MS and she passed. But the disorder itself is workable,, I'll be getting legal blood boosting! yeah,, so you all better watch me on the next diablo ride . I think the Mt. Tam ride is out for me, but I'll sort it all out this weekend. My last ride I could barely make it to the bridge and back, I've lost about ten pounds of muscle tissue. But I'm chomping at the bit to start treatment and get going soon. The Davis Dble is my carrot on a stick, I'm going to start all my training from scratch, I think a fresh start is cool once and awhile. Can't wait to ride with everyone.

Yep, that's my plan too.

I'm hoping to ride the DD next year. You & I can ride it together (assuming you don't smoke by me).

My goals are simple:

1. Fix up the Blur and enjoy the Fall Mountain Bike scene.
2. Finish the next three month w/ 1000 miles.
