Auburn/Folsom Rd riders beware

Seen on mtbr, stop in and say hi.

Roadies...I got your back
This little encounter happened the other day at Maria's in Auburn. Was not sure I wanted to post this but I was driving down Auburn/Folsom Blvd today sharing the road with..."roadies" and I decided I just could not let this go.

I was about to take a seat at Maria's after ordering my Super Chicken Burrito when this guy walks in the door takes one look at me in my MTBR jersey and riding shorts and says with a noticable slur "oh, your one of thos f^cks that I like to run off the road on Auburn/Folsom". I did a double take and was about to respond but the little voice in my head just said "no good will come of this". So, I walk away sit down to wait for my burrito. After placing his order (including another beer that he obviousley did not need) here he comes again and starts in with "I just want you to tell me we you guys think you own the f^ckin road"..."what makes you think you can just cut in front....." At this point I cut him off with "dude, in case you did not notice...I ride a mountain bike. I don't ride on the road and I don't know what you are talking about"

Well, this pissed him off and he still was not getting it so he starts in again "I don't know why you f^ckers think you can...." and this is where I lit into him with "dude, do not talk to me...I do not want to talk to you"
but he keeps going..and he is pretty hammered. Just then, a Placer County Sherriff Deputy walks in and gets in line.

I could tell this guy was getting all pumped up and was not going to let it go. I figured if this drunk @ss comes after me I'll at least get in a good shot before the Deputy breaks things up. So I say something like "listen @sshole, don't talk to me...your drunk and I am not going to take your crap".

By this time the deputy with Maria in tow are on their way over to see what is going on and the guy is out of his seat and headed in my direction. I turned to the deputy and said "this guy is hammered and he is about to get his @ss kicked" Now, this particular deputy is about 6'5" 250, very calm and very intimidating. He takes one look at the drunk and says "come here now". This guy starts in with "I am just trying to communicate with this bicyclist but, he won't communicate with me"

The deputy takes him aside and while trying to explain that he needs to get his food to go (apparently the guy walked from his house around tha corner) I overheard him tell the deputy several times that "My name is Johnny, I am the General Manager of Mark and Monicas in Granite Bay". He seemed to think that this was impressive and needed to be repeated several times. So, in that spirit I will mention it a few times more for him..."My name is Johnny, I am the General Manager of Mark and Monicas in Granite Bay"

When he finally got his food and left he stopped looked at me pointed to me then, pointed to his eyes, then made a motion like he was making a hard turn with his steering wheel.

I do not know how many folks here ride Auburn/Folsom road but watch out for Johnny-The General Manager of Mark and Monicas. He drives that road daily and on his way back I doubt that he is sober.

That's Johnny - General manager of Mark and Monicas in Granite Bay.

You know...I think I might go drop in for a pizza and beer tonight.

I encourage others to do the same...just ask for Johnny.

I read that earlier today and sent it out to a few friends that ride that road. Hopefully he gets what he deserves.

Great. An angry drunk from Granite Bay. Thanks for the heads-up. My wife has family in GB and I occasionally ride out there from Sacto. I think I'll stick to the trail as much as possible next time I ride up there.
