Sacramento's Tower Bridge to re-open Tuesday 11-20 / 7 a.m.

Finaly!

The bridge is about 90 percent complete. Work is continuing on the north sidewalk, but pedestrians and cyclists can use the south sidewalk. The bridge closed in September so the sidewalks could be widened from 3 feet to 10 feet to allow more pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The project was a joint effort between the cities of Sacramento and West Sacramento. The California Department of Transportation owns the bridge.

A second planned closure in January has been cancelled, as the finishing work can be completed while the bridge is open to traffic.

I can't wait. I think I'll be late to work on Tuesday just to be able to cross the Tower bridge. That means tomorrow is my last day on the I St. bridge!!! WooHoo!!

Well, it has been delayed until this afternoon. A fellow commuter and I ignored the news report and crossed it this morning anyway. Nobody was around so we went for it!
