Tell us about the Mt Hamilton ride. I hear you guys tore it up. RR and I climbed the Devil for the first time on our tandem with Smoooth and Sassy today. It was work.

What are the particulars for the San Bruno ride?

I was debating it, what is the turnout like for something like this? Given the day, and what most people were probably doing the night before.

I am fairly certain that it is happening. Penn Velo's site isn't too up to date. Last year there were 213 finishers.

I definitely plan to do it again.

The location is typically the east side of San Bruno Mt. in Brisbane at the corner of Guadalupe Cyn. Pkwy. and Bayshore Blvd. It is right near where I work in SSF. The course is 7-8% with narrow switchbacks and grades of up to 10%. Total distance 3.5 miles. First sanctioned race of the year. I don't think they have a tandem category. Hermes and I plan to do ot on our singles. And great post on the Diablo ride! We know all about "the wall!" Hermes just posted some pics from the Mount Hamilton low key hill climb on the fifty plus forum. Hope we can get together soon for some riding.

Nice pic! Which one is you? It is my understanding that the first part of the 2008 race calendar will be posted the beginning of December, so we should hear more about San Bruno soon.

Is this climb up San Bruno Mountain just a regular ride? Or is it a race to see can get up to the radio tower the fastest? Is there some recorded times of past climbs?

It is a USCF sanctioned race on January 1,2008. Here is a link to the 2007 results. https://www.ncnca.org/road/2007/MtSanBrunoResults.html

So the path traveled for those times is from the corner of Guadelupe Cyn. & Bayshore and then up Guadelupe Cyn.; loop through the parking lot and then up Radio Rd to the parking lot at the top? I'm not a racer, but was just curious how a recreational rider/commuter compare. I can probably try it this weekend to see where I stand.

It's a USCF race. I believe there's a $300 bonus for breaking the course record of 14:42. I rode 14:56 last year. I need to either lose 3 pounds or gain 10 watts.

So if its a USCF race does that mean you have to be a member of something?? There are a few tri's that I run that require a membership in USAT, don't know if the same thing applies here. Anybody?

Usually you can get a single day license. I don't know specifically about the SB Hill Climb.

I've been meaning to do this race four years going now but I've missed it every year for one reason or another.

Reg is up for the 2008 race.

https://www.sportsbaseonline.com/Item.aspx?item_id=2041

Because this is a USCF race, either an annual license ($60) or a 1 day licence ($10) is required.
