Actually, it could end up being me. Right now my wife and I are in Tiburon and have to drive back to Davis today.

What do you think. Highway 37 to 80 or Richmond/San Rafael/Carquinez?

Tam

Hey I'm thinking about going riding across the GG up to Mt Tam for a quick jaunt. Anyone interested? I'll meet you at Mikes Bikes. If you don't see me there It means I've gone and I'll wait up there on the top for you so we can regroup.....

Talk about bad timing...

From today's Mercury News:

First cyclists due today for Tour of California training
By Kristina Peterson
MediaNews
Article Launched: 01/04/2008 01:43:44 AM PST

The first batch of professional cyclists are to arrive in Palo Alto today to begin training for next month's Amgen Tour of California. A squad of racers and their entourage from Switzerland-based BMC Professional Cycling will begin a week-long training session in which they'll test brand-new bicycles on local roads, team director Gavin Chilcott said. Palo Alto and Stanford will host the opening time trial of the Tour of California over President's Day weekend. For local amateurs, the arrival of the pros means roads will be dotted with some of the sport's fastest. "I would compare it to getting a chance to go out and hit batting practice with Barry Bonds or getting to line up at a 49ers practice next to Jerry Rice," said Stanford Cycling Team mountain bike captain Todd Norwood.
"You're just out minding your own business on a ride and some of the big names of the sport roll by and say hi - or buongiorno," Norwood said. Of BMC Cycling's 16 riders, 11 are American, four Swiss and one South African, Chilcott said. Eight of the team's cyclists will get to compete in the Tour of California. The 16 cyclists will hit local bicycle routes to practice not only for the time trial portion of the race but also for the ascent of Mount Hamilton in San Jose. Late next week, they will ride from San Francisco to Santa Rosa, Chilcott said. The group's week-long stay in Palo Alto should also jump-start the economic boost the

race is expected to bring local businesses. Last year's race generated roughly $100 million for cities hosting segments of the eight-day stage race, according to race officials. Colleen Gerstner, director of sales at the Sheraton Palo Alto, where the BMC team is staying, said the hotel has already sold out all its rooms for later this month. Still, not all Tour racers plan to train locally. The Astana Cycling team, which this year includes reigning champion Levi Leipheimer, will be preparing in New Mexico, spokesman Jared Melzer said.

Sorry Pete, I would have joined you, but you see I have this thing on my bike, and it was making some funny noises, and I didn't want to be left stranded out on the road, so I think I'll pass on that. You up for it tomorrow? lol

I have to bring the car in for service this morning. So much for riding back to work from the dealership. Their drop you off at work vans always leave 3 minutes after I get there then it's a fresh 45 minute wait for the next.

Pretty crazy out there right now. I'm at school looking out and sheets of rain are coming down. Winds are insane too. Wouldn't want to be caught out there since the gusts kick up every once in a while and it'll be hard to stay in control. To all of ya'll going out, good luck and stay safe, NorCal forums are slow enough as they are.

I am in South San Francisco - made it to work (by car). The winds are from the south at 53 mph with gusts up to 68 mph with sideways torrential rain. The rain is one thing - the wind is another story. Be safe.

If there were no cars on the road, I would have ridden to work today.

But I'm not going to tempt fate, and I'm a bit spent from helping my kids through the powder and lift lines at Park City the past few days.

This weather reminds me of New Years Day last year when a Team Spine member was killed by a eucalyptus tree that feel on top of him in Los Altos Hills.

I rode in this morning. ~36MPH winds (45-50MPH gusts) and not heavy rain, but not light, either. Lots of stuff getting blown around me. Probably lots of people staring, but I was too busy trying to not get blown across the street into the median to notice.

I had a fence fall down in my back yard too. Dog's afraid to go out anyway. I drove two out of the three work days so far this year not a good start.

Wow Pete! Took you 2 minutes to get up the mountain. That's gotta be a record in some books . By the way, looks awfully similar to the frigid trip you took up the mountain last November. You must have the worst luck

I made it in on the Ducati. Crazy 50-60 mph gusts on the bridge though.

Heh, at least that's got some weight to it. I had to countersteer half of the way to keep going straight.

You're probably a lot drier right now than I am, too.
