Can you return the other phone?

A couple of weeks ago I lost my wallet, got as far as alerting everyone in the office. I would have cancelled my credit cards but they put me on hold so I figured I'd save it for later.

Well, as I was getting ready to go home, I tried to put my jacket on, and discovered that instead of putting my wallet in the inner pocket where I was looking for it, I had put it in the sleeve. Oops! :o

That's a big DOH, Pete! I'd hate to lose my phone and with all its numbers. Get Xtndconnect and sync the numbers with Outlook.

Tonight's 35 mile ride up Page Mill to Skyline. I was fine on the way up until the top when my knees started getting cold while putting on the arm warmers. On the trip down toes started feeling it at the base of Moody and got worse by Foothill and El Monte. I high tailed it the rest of the way home as fast as I could. Wool socks, plastic bags over them, PI shoe covers was not enough to keep them warm. I'll need to be way more careful in the future and come up with something better. Frost bite = bad.

I'll recycle my famous Davis Double incident. Last year, I was in the middle of my journey of completing the triple crown. Davis was the second leg of my journey, and I was really excited about doing this ride. I met up with my friends who came up from SoCal for dinner the night before. We were joking and laughing about past experiences, and even one rider, who completely their jersey, jacket ... so it was pretty funny. Well, that is until I got to my hotel room, and realize I didn't have my bike shorts. When I realized this, it was already 9 pm, and too late to get anything from the bike shop. Damn, I'm all the way this far, and I am not going to skip this ride. So I rode the whole 200 miles, 8600 feet climbing with walking shorts.

Yep, they told me about that last night at Verizon. My first project today. A lesson on being lazy about backup

Too bad I didn't know you back then Ron now that I think about it. I always bring two Kits with me. For the day before warm up and fresh kit for the Davis. I don't think I could ride to the store and back without some padding, so 200 miles is a feat in its self.

Wow.
And why don't phones have a way to back themselves up? What crap design. No wonder the iPhone is a hit.

My daughter lost her phone in the snow and is going through entering her zillion numbers all over again.

I myself have too many of those moments to recount. Or even pick from.

But who was it that forgot their shoes for the almost recent BF diablo loop ride? They were saved by BigBossMan I believe, who amazingly enough had the right size and cleat at his house just up the road.

That was Ben Ridin. That was kind of a Doh day for me too, when I was trying to change my blow out on Diablo with you! I was so adrenalined out after that happened and with everyone waiting I had a major case of anxiety and couldn't even think straight. So much for anti-anxiety medication!

BTW if it doesn't rain Sat. are we gonna see that new bike?
Pete

I'm hoping. I still need to get a spacer for the new stem I got. It's tough when I work so late. I'm calling around and then begging my wife to pick it up (like she isn't super busy too)

And, though I bike commute in rain, I'm not taking the new stead out in rain just for fun.

So, it an absolute you-can-count-on-it maybe.

Bear Creek Road one time, I looked down at my front tire and saw something green sticking to the tread - stopped and pulled out a green thumbtack with an unusual shape. I threw it down in disgust and put in my spare tube and after about 10 minutes got rolling again. A few wheel rev's down the road and I look down at my front tire and see an unusually shaped green thumbtack stuck in my tire. I had run over the same tack twice!

Now I always throw puncture things far away from the road.

I was on a "route discovery" ride to BART in Antioch and I was riding in the bike paths. An hour and 12 miles later I noticed that my front tire seems softer than usual. I stopped and discovered a goat head stuck on the tire. I pulled it out and immediately flatted. No problem, I have a patch kit and a spare tube if necessary. Replaced the tube, reinstalled the tire and reached for my pump on the frame.

Wait! Its not there. Reached for it in my jersey pocket. Nope, not there either. I forgot the pump at home. I then reached for the cell phone, which was thankfully there, and made the call of shame to the wife to give me the ride of shame home.

Now, I have a pump attached to every bike I have, just in case.

Here's my biggest DOH moment.
When I started visiting BF, even though I am married, I couldn't help but notice this total babe who posts. And, she lives near me. No big deal, but kind of amusing. Maybe I'd see her on a ride.

Sadly. I came to realize that peoples avatars don't necessarily reflect their physical presence on this earth. This was driven home when i discovered DiabloScott is not only not a total bade as the avatar suggests, but is in all actuality not any sort of babe at all.

I have been traumatized by my error. My therapist says "let it go" but, really, will I ever be able to live a normal, healthy life again?

HA,Ha!!, reminds me back in the 70's I had hair down to my butt and I was coming back from the beach on my old Ross. This car comes up from behind with these guys hanging out the windows hootin, hollerin! Hey baby, and whistling..I turned around showing my ugly face with full beard and you wouldn't believe how fast those heads went back in the car, looked like a multi-headed turtle that just got stepped on!

Stop it!

I was hoping nobody would remember that. Funny thing is, it's not first time I've left shoes behind. Thankfully, I've never left them behind from a ride. (Ka nock Ka nock)

I'm eternally grateful to BigBossMan for loaning me his shoes that day. He saved my life.

Imagine, we're both on a ride, and you forget your shoes, and I forget my shorts. At least we didn't forget our shoes and shorts!

I've been a baby about the weather so I haven't posted here much lately, but I finally grew a pair and rode into work today after a rather long haitus (about two months). Got all my winter riding gear on, new jacket from x-mas, nice warm pants.. get about two miles from work and notice my rear tire is flat. No problem, I think, I've got two sets of tire irons, a million patches, a multi-tool, and a spare..... (DOH! No spare tube!)

Ok, no problem, I'll just use the patches.. Let me just pump up the tire a little bit so I can figure out where the leak is coming from... pump pump, pull the pump off and DOH! There goes the valve stem!!!

Had to call my co-worker to pick me up.. In the year and a half that I've been riding, that's my second call of shame. First one was really not my fault, the freewheel cassette on my bike my superman legs somehow stripped the threading..
Anyhow, that also happens to be the first flat I've gotten on my commute and I'm pretty sure the first time I've ever attempted my commute without a spare tube...
