Don't you think we should start earlier in the AM.

Maybe 9 AM, then we'd be done by 6 or so.

Before the dark is fully set in.

I'm out. I'm on-call ... what a damn shame ... probably should start at 7 am or something like that.

This route mirrors the Sequoia Century ride last year. When I did it, the ol' Garmin said 116 miles and over 10,000 ft of climb. Took me 7:18 of pedal time.

Big ride for this early in the season !

It's a good thing I can't make it on Saturday. (whew!)

I'm in if it starts at 7am, doesn't rain, and we have lunch at least twice.

If you're stopping in Santa Cruz, I'm in for Mountain Charlie, Summit and Skyline. Just give me a place and approximate time.

But 10am seems like a kind of late start for such a long route, so maybe I should join for Alpine, Pescadero, and Hwy 1, since I don't want to ride home in the dark. Top of Page Mill at around 11am?

This would be my longest ride ever. But I am thinking about it.

My longest ride to date was the Giro di Peninsula Century last year.

I am thinking of doing the Cañada TT the following week, I hope it wouldn't effect that too much.

Marco, would you be driving to the start?
I think my boyfriend will need my car, and Caltrain doesn't go that early.

Gee, a hundred and twenty miles, eight thousand feet of climbing, and a start time of seven in the morning, a two-hour drive away from my house? I'll have to consult with the Ouija board and the Magic 8-Ball on this one...

I was thinking of riding from San Mateo... Can you say 160 mile day?

If I drove I would need to borrow a rack. I should test fit my girlfriend's rack and see if it works on my car.

For those of us who are mere mortals you may want to check out the RBR ride on March 2nd: RBR Ride on 3/2/08

The link gives the details of the meeting place and route and stuff.

Here is a map of the bike route but it looks like it may end up about 10 miles longer:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/107845

Anyone up for that ride?

Whoops, I had assumed the Caltrain would be running this early. If this isn't the case we'll have to delay the start. It looks like the first weekend train arrives in Palo Alto at 9:02, so I'm afraid this is the earliest I can start.

I did the Marin century this afternoon, and WOW what a gorgeous ride!! I especially liked the fresh pavement and rolling hills of Marshall and Shoreline. I was surprised by how rural the shore up there is; in New England it's mostly developed until you go way up in Maine.

These climbs are certainly going to beat me up. I've never done more than 1000 ft at once, so I'm prepared to take it slow with a few breaks.

..... and you want to do the Sequoia Century route with around 10,000 ft of climb ??!!!

You are either brave, foolish, or young

I meant 1,000 ft in one pitch. My favorite ride out east: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Mauricie climbs over 4,000 ft in 35 miles, but it's got nothing on Page Mill.

As for that trifecta, you've got me pinned on all three counts

Oh, whew! That makes more sense.

I hereby withdraw the "foolish" characterization . You may just be brave and young.

Hey serenegreen, sorry I didn't mean to "sabotage" your ride, just seemed that there was interest in another ride that was a bit shorter/easier than yours.

Feel free to join us if you change your mind on that 10,000 ft!

You also sabotaged the Peninsula ride (and you live there)

For that you should have to do both rides
