I think I'm being stalked!
So, we're doing a casual ride today in Marin. Beautiful weather, riding with 14 great people - what could be better? Did I mention that it seemed like there were about a gazillion Aids Lifecycle riders doing almost the same route (they went to the cheese factory, which we did not, but we went up Mt. Tam).
Sure enough, we had just gone through Nicasio and who do we see? Smilin' Pete Ferguson (aka Taxi777)- our initial group had splintered a bit at that point, so Pete rode with the 4 of us that were left together for a few miles until our routes diverged. I seem to run into this guy in the weirdest places (last time was in the middle of nowhere, Livermore - Collier Canyon Rd, to be precise).
Anyway, the Aids lifecyclers weren't a problem - they were pretty good about being predictable and leaving room to pass, etc. However, the tourists on the Golden Gate Bridge were another story! We were schlepping up from Ft. Baker to the bridge, when a girl with no helmet loses control and hits her head big time right in front of us. She didn't seem badly hurt (although she clearly had a concussion, says Dr. JB), but we stayed with her until the paramedics come. Not a nice way to end a ride!
