Trying to go on longer rides. This weekend, I did Montebello to Saratoga Gap, then Ridge trail through Russian Ridge and then back, which was about 20 miles and pretty fun ride with a nice climb, though a bit hot on Sunday.
Any other trail suggestions?

I think you can put together a decent amount of miles at Coe too. I don't ride in the Bay much - I ride in Auburn. You can put together some great rides up there .

There are tons of different trails up around Skyline & Page Mill. Another loop Montebello up to Black Mountain, then down to the Canyon Trail and up over Table Mountain and Charcoal Road to to Long Ridge. Follow the Ridge Trail back over the hill to Montebello. If that's not enough for you, you can do the loop through Russian Ridge and down Crazy Pete's Road to Alpine Road and back up to Montebello.

There are more long trails at Nisene Marks State Park (above Santa Cruz) and Henry Coe State Park (Morgan Hill).

That sounds like what I rode. The one I did last time was canyon trail up to black mountain to Saratoga gap, to long ridge trail, to ridge trail to horseshoe lake to russian ridge up to borel hill and back around to montebello. I will do that one again, but I want to try some others, especially in South Bay.

Any suggestions for fairly smooth trails on the Peninsula? I'd like to try some on my Birdy, but it doesn't have much clearance.

Arastradeo Preserve in Palo Alto has mostly very tame dirt roads and trails.
Also, the levies in the Palo Alto Baylands are very smooth and flat dirt.

Black Diamond Preserve, access from Pittsburg, Antioch, and Clayton offers many miles of fire roads - lots of up and down.
