If you haven't been yet, you're missing out on the biggest party on two wheels. Friday night racing this season is H-O-T! Awesome music, free food and beer, and amazing racing. And it's all free (besides the $6/car county parking fee).

This Friday, Velo Girls is sponsoring Hellyer Hoedown, a country-themed party (with a bit of racing thrown in for kicks). Rocking country music, BBQ, beer, and hot cowgirls! The fun starts @ 6:00pm. Don't forget your cowboy hat!!!

Okay, I want to give a shout out to La Dolce Velo in San Jose who ponied up sponsorship for this Friday so we won't run out of free beer!

Did I mention there's free beer and food? And admission is free? And the racing is hot! It doesn't get any better than that.

Wife will be at a baby shower so I might bring the kids down for a night of racing.
Is the scene "G", "PG", or "R". I guess if there's beer, it could be "PG" eh?.

the scene is definitely G. there were probably 15-20 kids at the race last week. most of them were playing in the infield -- having a blast!

we'll be having a kiddie kilo as well, so bring their bikes & helmets.

and, you know, with all those kids, you get to drive in the carpool lane! SCORE!!! maybe I could borrow one of them?

They're 10, 7, 3, and 1.5. I think my 10 and 7 year olds would get a kick out of the kiddie kilo. Thanks!

Maybe Maddy (10) could ride with you and be inspired to ride more :D

10 year olds are fun but challenging (in many ways). I've coached 10 year old girls and boys over the years. Please make sure to introduce me to Maddy as well, okay?

This was a really really fun time. It was nice to meet you Lorri, and was good seeing Henry and his army. I'd never seen a track event before so this was a real treat. The food was awesome.. the beer was great.. all around great time. Next time I'll pack a thermos with some apple cider or hot chocolate or something, it got a little chilly. At some point I'd love to give the track a try although I don't know if I'd be able to ride around it without making car sounds..

Sounds like a good time. As I was headed back south down 880 I saw a truck loaded with a couple of gorgeous looking track bikes -- whose marque I did not recognize and therefore don't remember -- loaded on top. I figured they were probably MV folks headed down to the races...

We got there kind of late but was still able to catch the Kiddie Kilo. The kids liked watching the races and are looking forward to doing the Kiddie Kilo next time. It was nice running into Ty and Kari and Ty's cousin too. Lorri, you were pretty busy doing organizer stuff so we'll meet next time.
