"Hard to say how many 'bents are going to show, unless Goatbiker can jump on and give us some idea of the feedback his x-posts on the 'bent forums has generated."

From the recumbent groups, there are five committed, and three more showing interest.

See you Saturday

Hi All,
A few more things popped up, so its going to be difficult for me to make it. I really want to ride with you guys. I've done 35 miles plus, but never a 50. So I'm up for a challenge. If I can rearrange, I'll see you before 8:30 or at Steady Eddie's and if not, it will be next time. If you see a yellow dual 26 recumbent, it'll be me.

If distance is an issue, there's lots of ways to cut this ride short...

That's good to know. I may have to bail early due to smoke in the air.

Just got an email from the Davis Bike Club. They have a similar ride on Saturday starting at 8am from North Davis, so we might see them on the road...Guess I'll check the ride schedule next time.

What's the air quality situation like over there nowadays? Will we need to bring our own air supply?...

I went for a ride this morning. Cut it short to 17 miles, but I was pushing pretty good. 17mph avg speed. That's high for me. Anyway, I could feel my lungs aching a little.

I think if we take it easy on Saturday's ride, we should be fine.

What's your ETA to Steady Eddie's? It usually takes me less than an hour to get to Winters, so, the latest ETA would be 10:30. Would you guys still be there?

Your timing might be pretty good; if we start @ 8:30 ish and we're able to average 14-15 mph (which is somewhat reasonable given the flatness of the route), we'd probably end up around Steady Eddy's right about the time you got there from Davis. You could probably even take your time getting there after your morning appt. Boy, if we morph w/ the DBC ride and everyone pulls into SE's I hope they got room...

Tandem Team Blue Jay will join you -- we'll blast up to Davis to meet y'all at the beginning, and then head back to Vacaville from Steady Eddy's. Anyone who wants to grab our wheel is welcome to it -- and we'll be laid back, we promise!

Hope the air is clear, or the temperature cool, or both.

GTG, cd55, and RR, great to have you with us; we're looking forward to everyone having a good time. We'll play it by ear with the smoke situation, and we definitely don't want the ride to be hazardous to people's health, so I think moderation would be the operative word. 'Keeping my fingers and toes crossed on temps and air for this weekend...

Keeping my fingers crossed as well. I'm hoping the weather folks are wrong and strong cool breezes start blowing our way and a light rain falls to put out the fires. Looking forward to finally meeting more BF'ers. It's about time us folks up here have group rides. The peninsula people are having all the fun.

We're having plenty of fun; we just keep it to ourselves, but I don't know why.

Let us have fun with you. More group rides, I say. I'll get on my bike more often.

Well, if y'all like this one, don't forget, there's another ride a month from now that has Cantelow in it for those who want to stretch their legs a little bit...

I saw that one too. Unfortunately, I am hosting a BBQ party on the 26th. Keep 'em coming though.

The Davis Bike Club has a ride on Saturday the 26th (different from ours) but nothing on Sunday the 27th. Would you want to move it to Sunday?

Keep it on Saturday, please! I've had to juggle schedules for Saturday and would prefer not to go through that again.
