Jackass on a Recumbent

A jackass on a recumbent ran a red light today on Auburn Blvd. in Citrus Heights. He made a right turn on a red light, didn't stop, didn't look to his left, didn't even slow down as far as I know, just barreled around the corner. I was riding my bike to the Honda dealer to retrieve my car. If he'd been hit by a motor vehicle it would've been his problem. But he turned directly in front of me as I was riding at 30 mph through the intersection with the green light, at which point it became my problem. When I rode right up his brains I kindly brought his faux pas to his attention, to which he saidówait, stop the pressesó"I was making a right turn." A jackass and an ignoramus.

Too bad you didn't have time to pull in front of him and slam on your brakes! When he went off on you You could have just said you don't have a hands free phone so you we're pulling over to pick up.

Don't worry, I've done my share of red-light-running on a folding bike.

I would've been satisfied if he'd simply apologized for cutting me off. At least I wouldn't have gotten PO'd and I might've been left with the delusion he'd run the light by mistake. Instead, I know he's an unrepentent redlight-runner, and persuasion converts outlaws into law-abiding citizens only in the movies. But Jackass-on-the-Recumbent (I know you're out there), man-up when your scofflaw antics cause a near-collision with a fellow cyclist.

A folder with a hybrid and a PO'd Bookman jammed into a hinge.

If he keeps doing that...his luck will eventually run out...it might be a car or truck that can't stop in time...
