Offering a ride/place to crash for Foxy's for 2

10/16/08 Looks like we are full up. CRSturdivant has put dibs in on the last spot

Latest UPDATE:
1 spot still open
UPDATE 10/07/08: No Takers Yet If You Need A Lift - Still 2 Spots Open

I want to offer a lift to/from Foxy's fall century to a couple of Bike Forums folks.
I also have a room for Friday night at the Econo Lodge just 1 mile from the Start/Finish and if you ride up with me you are welcome to crash on the floor.

I have a Honda Odyssey (actually it is my wife's van but she is graciously loaning it to us for the weekend) and I can roof rack two bikes and put 2 more in the van.

taxi777 is coming up with me and this leaves room for 2 more passengers.

I live just 1 mile from North Concord Bart and the plan is to drive up Friday night the 17th. Davis is just an hour from where I live. (I suppose I would like to leave Concord at about 7PM but we can iron that out later)

I want to be fair so I will offer the ride/room slots to the first 2 people who private message me a request to get in on this.

I look forward to a fun road trip.

No takers?

Key Facts About Me:
1) Not an axe murderer
2) I bathe daily
3) I do not snore

I left those facts out of the original post, sorry.

I'll grab a ride with you. I'm not registered, but maybe I can sign up on the morning of the event.

Even if you don't get registered, there is usually a group (albeit fast one) that rides the course. Just make sure you don't use the portopots and food at the stops since they will be checking wristbands.

Since we're sharing:

1) I've never killed anyone..... with an axe.
2) The wife says I snore, but she's a known liar
3) If you wish to engage in a biological-warfare duel with me, better bring your A game. I play for keeps and I don't take prisoners.

Oh - and if you sleep on the floor, you should be safe from being stepped on - as long as you aren't between me and the bathroom.

So Pete, does this mean you aren't staying at Chez Cgalagh?

Certain canines will be tres disappointed. As will their owners.

In fact, we were thinking of hosting a casual, impromptu "meet and greet Pete" gathering with appetizers on Friday night, open to any BFer or local friends riding Foxy's.

Does anyone have interest in something like that?

....O mi god .... I was afraid I was imposing, so I kind of hopped on the Hotel thing, but haven't totally committed... and Bossman's got one of the bed's...I'm back pedaling and doing a dance...

Have you really talked to the doggies? If they really want Uncle Pete to go to their Pajama party, I guess I can bail out of the hotel thing If it's not to late that is
Man...never been so stuck for words!

It's all good Pete, whatever you like is cool with me.

If you want to stay with Redrider and the puppies by all means follow your heart, but my offer of a lift still stands.

Can you say no to them?

Thought so.

But hey, we're all about what works best for all. And if the floor works vs. a real bed and a four-legged bedwarmer is your preference, then who are we to stop you?

The invitation to visit and eat and drink is open to Foxy's riders wherever you are. I ask that you PM me so I can have a head count; I don't want to bake too much brie or make too much pesto from my homegrown basil.

The story of locking my keys in a running Dodge Caravan, or Why I got a new Honda Odyssey and a Cell Phone;

In February many of the usual suspects, you know who you are, all met at Dublin Bart one morning for an impromptu Century. When I got down there I shut off my van and noticed a major coolant puddle draining out from the radiator. I figured ride now, car trouble later, so I went on my merry way and had a great ride with Taxi777, Jobob, Bostic and others.

When we got back to Dublin Bart I was gassed and a little spaced out, a century in February with my winter weight around my middle took a lot out of this cyclist. I put away my bike and all my gear and then I started up the van so I could add water to my sick radiator. Jobob and I dumped every waterbottle we could find in our 2 vehicles into my radiator.

Did I mention I was spaced out? Because, I closed the hood and asked Jobob to wish me luck only to discover that I had locked my self out of my running van. The van with the sick radiator, low coolant and probability of overheating. Now it was just sitting there idling 25 miles from home.

Jobob loaned me her cell phone and I called my wife who drove down to rescue me.
The old van was a trooper, it sat there running for about 40 minutes and never overheated. It even got me home with my wife closely following.

So, now I have a new van and a cell phone but you guys should still watch me after Foxy's and not let me do anything stupid. I am always capable of sinking to new heights.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was going to bring one of my good bikes, but maybe I'll just take one I'm not too attached to.

Just in case......
