11/22 East Bay Hills 2 - one more try

Updated:

STARTING FROM ORINDA BART (Meet at 8:30, leave no later than 8:45)

We'll work out how to rendez-vous with Pete at the top of Lomas on the day

https://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...Hills2-Skyline

Plan A....

Orinda BART - Moraga Way to Glorietta.
Left on Glorietta, Right on Rheem and for the first climb of the day – lap up the nice straight descent.
Right on Moraga Rd and head towards Canyon. First regroup point at junction w/Pinehurst.
This time, turn LEFT on Pinehurst and follow the road through to Redwood, climb to junction w/ Skyline – second regroup here.
Follow Skyline to Grizzly peak, as per the first ride, to the junction of Lomas Cantadas/Grizzly Peak (“the little trains”) – Water and restrooms available here, last restroom is at Inspiration Point.
Follow Grizzly Peak to Shasta, then Wildcat, proceed cautiously down Wildcat (!) then do the 3 bears loop from SPDR, Castro Ranch, Alhambra, Bear Creek back to SPDR.
Return south to Orinda BART

I've certainly checked out the interior of several of those in my time. Not bike related though...

You never know, but it's early days. Hoping we don't have to resort to any of the east bay guys in drag.

Bummed but also happy.

Bummed because my Saturdays are committed to staying home with the kids for many of the next several weekends.
Sat, Nov 15
Sat, Nov 22
Sat, Dec 6
Sat, Dec 13
My riding will have to be on Sundays on those weekends.

Happy to stay home because my wife has committed to a Team in Training ride series to prepare her for the Solvang Century next year which will be her first century. You go girl!

I will miss joining y'all for this ride, have fun.

I would be interested, especially if anyone from my area wants to carpool. Anyone?

Thanks Georges -- if you can't make it, PM me and let's try to catchup another time. I'm definitely interested in keeping in touch with my east bay neighbours to see who might be up for a 2hr ride on a weekend sometime - the sort of thing that probably wouldn't warrant a BF post.

I may be in for the 22nd. My saturdays are free for some time to come (minus thanksgiving and christmas). Though Orinda is mad far from here, I'll try to make it

Hey, that's a great TnT group being pulled together - I've ridden with several of the participants, honorees (cancer patients, some of whom are riding with the team), coaches and other staff members. She should have a lot of fun. She'll probably see me helping out with SAG on at least one of the rides.

JB

PS - my schedule is still in too much of a flux to commit to making this ride, but I'd like to!

I would love to come, but I'll be in Hawaii at the time.

Oh well, I'll manage.

In the mean time, how about a minor ride this weekend? I've been off for the last 2 weeks, but something around 30-40 miles should be fine.

Take BART over to the city and join Pete's ride: https://www.bikeforums.net/northern-california/485109-11-15-sat-pt-reyes-lunch-ride-xtra-tam.html

My guess is no - I still haven't seen the final soccer tournament schedule for the weekend, but they like to put everything onto Saturday if they can. I'm a coach, so it's pretty tough to say, "I'll miss this one, kids - I'm going to ride my bike instead!"

On the positive side, my oldest son's team got first in the town, and 3rd overall after winning the last tournament over the team that crushed them in the first game of the season - they're feeling pretty good about themselves right now.

JB

Edit - I just realized you're talking next weekend, not this weekend - as of right now, soccer season is over after this weekend. I might just make it!

Bumping this up and updating the original post -- the weather for Saturday looks peachy, I'm thinking we'll actually get this one done.

One question -- anyone considering the low key hill climb?

Posting this question in response to the LKHC thread. Can you confirm if you are interested in doing El Toyonal/Lomas Cantadas low key hill climb as a part of this ride? Please let me know yes/no and we can work out what to do.

Several options could work, for instance one could be to start the ride a little later - accomodating those who want to make the climb. Others could climb Wildcat Canyon (an easier, more scenic climb) and we could rendez vous with the LKHC folks at the top of Lomas and Grizzly Peak -- not a big detour at all.

I'll hold off any other suggestions until I know what everyone feels like doing. I don't want to leave anyone out who would otherwise want to come along (RoboCheme, perhaps)

Hey, I will be doing the LKHC, but I really want to do your ride...I think it would intergrate really well, Let's just go with what you think would be the best plan for us. Sounds like an awesome day
