Mt. Ham 12/2

I'm so jealous to have missed all the rides in the past week that I'm planning to go up Mt. Hamilton tomorrow, Tuesday 12/2.

It's my last day of vacation before heading back to work, so if anyone else is free let's make it a ride.

What time to start? Since everyone else took a couple days off last week at work I opted for today and tomorrow.

I've yet to drive home from SD yet, but I was thinking of starting earlyish. 8:30 or 9 from the Pesky Penguin start point on Bikely.

We'll see how I feel after being off the bike for a while and overeating this whole week, but I have delusions of doing the climb twice, hence the early start. If a little later would work better for you I can be flexible.

I still have to drive back from Reno. This was a ride from earlier in the year. It will properly kill any idea of riding up HW 130 twice from Alum Rock.

Yes, it will definitely kill any idea of doing 130 twice. I have to say it was more entertaining than what I imagine doing 130 2x would be like. Have fun on the ride, 'wish I had the day off (not that I would go riding w/ you guys ).

Working...so no riding. I'll pretend like I'm climbing Mt. Ham when I commute to work on my bike.

I am still in the car now, but I will be home in time to go whenever you can makeit. Your 80km loop looks good. If we get to the top around lunch my gf may meet us with sandwhiches, too. Post or txt to let me know where and when to meet.

Is 9 too early to start? This would be on Alum Rock ave right before the climbing starts past Kirk. Where the width of the street narrows.

OK. I see the place you're talking about on the map, is there anywhere near there to park? There's that school, but is it a school day?

I'll head over there and plan to there at 9. I will call if I have any issue.

Also, anyone know how long the climb would be? 2 Hours? 2.5 hours?

The ride takes me less than 2 hours, at a brisk pace. I think that at a mellow pace we could easily reach the summit in 2.5 hours. I have school at 12:30, if you guys are serious about starting at 9am, I am in...

Which route did you want to do? The regular up 130 the whole way or head down White road to go up Quimby? Look for my silver Taurus wagon.

Thanks Ramon for the good ride. It was definitely better to have you pacing yourself with me than to be turning all those corners on my own.

Here are the 3 pics I got at the top. Go-go-cell-phone-camera!

Ahhhh....it's one of those pictures that show up only to the truly faithful...

Beautiful pictures, by the way, esp. from only the cell phone. For pure schadenfreude, I was wishing you guys dreary rain and overcast this morning while driving to work, but that looked to have been thwarted. Wish I could've gone.

OH so did you guys do 2x?

No, only an up and back. We started at 9, for me to do 2X I would have had to start earlier, maybe yesterday.

Anyway, I was off the bike for 9 days. Weirdly, my saddle was the most painful thing about getting back on. Maybe those nerves regrew? Either way, 1x was a nice relatively easy get-back-into things ride.
