Tour of California - Changes in the works...
Apparently the Sacramento Stage is being changed from a road stage to a prologue time trial.
While prologue TTs can be pretty cool to watch (e.g. Embarcadero up to Coit Tower), I was kinda looking forward to seeing a road stage here. Local TV news is saying that an official announcement will be coming on Thursday.
Those of us who volunteered to be course marshals may find that we aren't needed after all...

A prologue will still need volunteers, especially for crowd control. It is a shorter route than a road stage, but the whole route will be blocked off all day and there will be bigger crowds to manage.

Yeah! I heard Jim Crandall on Fox40 give an unverified report that Sac will have a TT prologue on 2/14/08 and the 1st stage will start in Davis (to Santa Rosa) on 2/15. Helluva weekend. Makes for a long day of bike racing in Sactown. Get to see all of em' one by one. I'm happy about it.
