Stage 2 specating locations?

i was just watching the last 20 minutes of stage 1 and i saw ppl standing on the side of the road on the last descent and im wondering if there is anyway we can spectate on sierra road or calaveras road. Or are there any specific spots you guys would recomend to spectate at?

Just ride up early and park yourself in a good spot. I'd find a spot with a bit of straight-away so you don't get whiplash as they go by.

I still have not decided if I want to stand around in the pouring rain tomorrow. It's going to be blasted cold up there.

td., the City end of the bridge will work well. The riders will still be in parade mode, but the roadway's arc will give you different perspectives on the peloton. *If* the route passes by the Cliff House, being c.30 yards below there will give you a great view of the peloton cornering at high speed, then roaring down and along Great Highway.

I've definitely decided I don't want to stand around in the cold rain, the kind we had today. I guess the question is whether it will actually be raining. From our experience on Saturday, it seems it is always raining on and around Skyline in these types of conditions, even if it is only overcast a few miles away.

But I will hope for the best.

If anybody is going to stand in rain and wants some company, let me know. Got all the rain bike & gear ready, just got to decide where to sit & watch.

The weather looks to be pretty nasty, again, tomorrow. If today was any indication unfortunately the only way that you'll be able to catch any of the action is in person...the television coverage was spotty because of the poor weather today.

Still not reason enough, for me, to sit in the wet cold so the peloton can zip by in a few seconds...

Okay, in addition to pictures of the race, I'm going to have to ask for pictures of the happy attendees...

If I come, I'll be bringing a thermos of something hot. Will you be heading down Canada to Kings? Or Alameda to 84? Let me know, I may join you, or perhaps meet you there if the weather is not so bad, I would plan to get down to a spot on Tunitas around 9:30-9:45. Is that too late? I see on the schedule that they should be turning on Tunitas between 10:05 and 10:30 and getting to the top between 10:25 and 11.

Watch from the upper part of a long climb. The pack will take a lot more than a few seconds to pass you.

Probably Alameda -> 84

Depends what time we leave. Plan is to hit Robert's by 8:30am, meeting Ramon.

I've got the rain gear ready! I'm going to take 92 to skyline and head towards the top of Tunitas and then park somewhere (the purisima trailheads area if I can get there: no info on road closures of skyline so...). Then I'll pull out the bike and ride to Tunitas and maybe down the hill a mile or two if we're allowed and conditions allow. Hope to see some of you guys there!

Holy crap it's crazy out there!!!

Right now the plan is to drive to Woodside (Pioneer Hotel) and ride up Kings and down Tunitas.

We are lacking in the rain gear department.

Hmmm - been trying to do the same, but bummed that the coverage died for at least half of Tunitas. Now sitting here watching folks meandering around the finish line. Not quite what I had in mind.

I am in the same boat.
I debated driving to the top of Tunitas this morning but decided the warmth of home was better. The live coverage was pretty good until mid-Tunitas and then ... poufff... reruns of previous days or live shots of the finish line in Santa Cruz. On top of that the two commentors are quite booooring.

I hear ya - I was just watching Steven Cozza have a mechanical and get a new bike from the Garmin team car, meanwhile the commentators were chattting away with this guy from Giro helmets and had no idea why Cozza was just catching up to the lead group. [slaps forehead, sighs]

Back home and warm. Thank you to Marco and Ruth for giving me a lift home as my toes were numb on the descent back to Huddard Park where they had their car. I used hand dryer in the rest rooms to warm up for a good fifteen minutes. The riders and cars zoomed by very close but what a fun experience. The ride over from Sunnyvale was an experience in this downpour.
