South Bay ride suggestions

Have been enjoying the riding in the South Bay (silicon valley) *new to area* especially now that its day light savings time. When I lived in LA I used to due hill repeats all week in Griffith Park. the reason I liked it was it was car free because cars were not allow beyond a certain area. I doubt such a thing exists around here but are there any hills (i know there are tons of hills), but some that have minimal car traffic? Not necessarily 10% grade and higher kinda hill, but something honest.

Here are a few:

Redwood Gulch
Montebello Road
Mt. Eden
Moody

Then, if you venture a little north there's Old La Honda. There are a bunch more, but at least this gives you a start.

don't care -- I live accross the road from Metcalf

seriously speaking, though, it depends from which of SJ you are going. for example, it's possible to to though Almaden Valley (and do Hicks on the way ).

I do repeats on Bernal, but on the opposite side from Almaden. Its IBM property and is closed to traffic other then employees. Bernal up to the gate is very low traffic also, and is great for repeats. If ya just wanna ride hills then hwy 9 up and over through Big Basin and back up E Zayante is a great climbing ride. Some folks dont like riding hwy 9, but I for one dont mind it at all.

Calaveras/Sunol is a sweet spot area in the Southbay. This route also hooks up to Felter, Sierra, and also a wicked climb up Welch Creek.

I'm doing the steep section and using the [relative flat] top for recovery, turn round, go down, and repeat
