No love for the Sactown?

I work at home most days, always Thursdays. I plan to go out in morning stop by all the SF festivities, then back home (to work).

Great post! As you all know, MyLilPony is a dedicated bike commuter and was Contra Costa's Bike Commuter of the Year! We support bike to work day every day.

My college is TRYING to promote it. Last year I had my design students all do posters. I'm on sabbatical this semester, but here's last semesters effort.

If I end up working from home that day, I'll take the unicycle down the hall from the bedroom to the office, does that count? :p

Update Santa Clara now has some events for Bike to Work Day. Fun times!

Santa Clara County : http://btwd.bayareabikes.org/node/8#Santa%20Clara

I missed the goodies being handed out last year. I'll make sure to make up for it this year. :D

spingineer 05-13-09 10:32 PM

The problem I have is my commute is at 5:30, and be in the office at 6 am. That's before some of the energizer stations are set up. No goodies for me, but I'll be out there.

Beaker 05-13-09 10:34 PM

I'll be trying my first bike-(BART)-bike to work tomorrow. I picked up my bike from a quick tuneup from the Pedaler in El Sobrante this afternoon and already got a free bike to work goody bag.

Looking forward to trying it out. I'll be heading out of the office extra early to make sure I can get back across the bay before the no bike curfew kicks in though. How unfortunate.

What do they have at the energizer stations? Will only pass one, actually it's at my destination.

Biking to work is almost never an option as a musician, but tomorrow I'm taking the ferry from SF to Vallejo to meet a colleague and we're going to ride to Santa Rosa for a rehearsal. I have to leave the house at 11:30 AM to get to a 7:30 PM rehearsal.:roflmao2: But I'm looking forward to riding roads I've never been on before.

jobob 05-13-09 11:27 PM

I'm going to be so freaking grumpy tomorrow missing out on B2W day. :notamused:

Maybe I should have warned my co-workers. Nah.

ruthness 05-14-09 12:02 AM

I`m biking to school tomorrow, which really I should have been doing all semester.

Tapeworm21 05-14-09 12:07 AM

I can't help but want to drive to work tomorrow.

mtnwalker 05-14-09 12:18 AM

I drove last year and I felt like crap all day. I think it'll be nice to get more cyclists on the road to work.

I drove last year as well. Riding in tomorrow, if nothing else for the expected paceline on Foothill.

Also, if I take my 11-mile route I will pass 6 of the stations. 6!!

silentben 05-14-09 12:21 AM

I've ridden my bike a grand total of two days in May and neither of those were commutes :( Going to try and commute in tomorrow though.

spingineer 05-14-09 07:35 AM

Funny, at 5:30 am, I don't see any increased ridership out there.

Cliff bars, gatorade, environmentally friendly shopping bag, and probably some water. Not sure if they give out t-shirts or not.

rydaddy 05-14-09 07:41 AM

I bike to work all the time... but I don't think I've ever done it on the officialy bike to work day. Today included. :o

subframe 05-14-09 07:43 AM

Ahhh, Bike To Work Day. My favorite holiday.

:roflmao2:

You and me both. I could almost do it but the rewards aren't worth the risks. :(

So I'll settle for biking to work another time.

FOPA stands for "Featured Optional Pedal Assist." Ruthness needs that for her half bike as Marco typically provides 75% of the power. :p

Made it to and from BART without my car - left in the dark (woefully inadequate lights) - got off at Daly city expecting to be greeted by the sun. Wrong - fog, yuk. Climbed up and over Guadalupe Canyon to head for the Brisbane lagoon and was given a boost by a stealthy energizer station giving me the cow-bell treatment. After the energizer station got rolling with ~20cyclists, not bad for ~7:15.

Based on this, I don't think I'll make a habit of riding with a backpack and laptop on a regular basis though, the computer is staying in the office tonight.
