... and no one has a special event planned. We gotta have some type of epic ride. I'm in a funk, so I have no bright ideas. Everyone will want to be on the GG bridge, so that's gotta be a zoo. Twin Peaks? Pete? Oddball night ride?

Spend the 4th in Davis and enter or watch the fab crit. Unless you're in Hawaii for your 10th anniversary or getting married and going to Hawaii on your honeymoon.

Good luck to everyone riding it. Don't think Lance will be at this one, but maybe Chris Horner will show up.

I am going to be wakeboarding that weekend. I shall come back all bruised and likely a bit hung over.

Don't mince words
Chris has a 3-day weekend and we're open. Imagine the possibilities...

On the 3rd I am escorting, mentoring, coaching, cajoling and otherwise generally cheerleading my buddy Midland on his first ever Century. He bought his Klein at the end of February and has done 3 metrics with me and climbed Diablo twice. At 5'6" and 140 lbs. he is a budding animal. Now it is time to knock out his first Century. We are going unsupported out to Sunol/Livermore from Concord.
He has been my friend for 24 years, yikes I am old, and now it is so great to ride with him.
I would have blown this up into a group ride except I want to be kind of selfish on this one and have it be just the two of us, since it is his first.

Anyone want to ride in Marin Friday, Alpine Loop or Point Reyes? Then MTB in the PM?
Saturday, I'm too late to pre-reg for the Davis Crit but I _may_ still drive up and sign up onsite (unless a better ride comes along). I just have to be back for family activities in the afternoon.

Sounds tempting ... the other ride is a century, 9500 feet climbing, down to Bonny Doon. I'll most likely get dropped like a rock, but at this point, I'm on the fence with either one.

That one doesn't require a long drive... and we always regroup at the tops and bottoms of everything!

On Saturday, I will be leading a Western Wheelers Club ride. D means it is for stronger riders, generally [don't worry, Ron, that includes you; we'll wait on the climbs ].
Sat 7/4: "July 4th" - D/4(6900)/72. Peach Hill, Kennedy-Shannon, Hicks Both Ways, Mt. Umunhum. Meet Chris O'Connell (chrisoco@yahoo.com) at Gunn H.S. at 8:45 for prompt 9:00 AM departure. I am not familiar with these roads but I hope to have a lunch break
somewhere between mile 43 and 53. If this is not possible, be prepared for a long, hard ride without lunch. I am counting on some D veterans to come out and assist with their knowledge. We should be back in plenty of time for the BBQ and the fireworks, should you be so inclined. Cue sheet can be found at https://home.pacbell.net/spro/routesh..._MtUmunhum.pdf
Rain or tornadoes cancel.

I highly recommend everyone filling up their water bottle to the max in Los Gatos before you head out on Hicks. There is no ... repeat ... absolutely no water stops once you climb Hicks. There are plenty of good restaurants in downtown Los Gatos. I would consider this a camelback ride!
