Santa Rosa in the spring...
I'm sure this has been asked before and yes I should search, but I'm feeling lazy this morning....So I'll just ask...
My wife and I are thinking about heading out to Santa Rosa next spring, she has an old school friend that lives out there. We're thinking late May, early June, looks like the weather at that time of the year is pretty good...am I right?? We don't want to get into too hot of weather down there, plus we don't want to get into later June since the weather up here (Southern Ontario) has improved by then.
I know there's an abundance of ride choices and people on bikes so we'll be searching that out next.
Can't wait for next year!

Santa Rosa + May =
Normally you're spot on, the weather should be gorgeous. That's what ~20 of us NorCal BF'rs thought when we signed up for the Wine Country Century this year, but there's a damp smelling thread buried somewhere here that'll tell you that wasn't the case...
I'm sure you'll find quite a lot of BF rides going on round here at the time too.

May is supposed to be a great time for good weather in Sonoma county. This year was everything from cold rain to 100 deg days. The Tour of California is now going to be in May. Santa Rosa puts on a good showing for the race, I don't think they have anounced any cities or any to the route. It probably will include some of the Sierras that they couldn't ride in Feburary.
There's great riding here to be had. I like the west county. Check out https://www.levisgranfondo.com/ and check out the route. You could drive out river road and do King's Ridge and not have to do a 100 mi day.
enjoy.
Jeff

I'll have a look for that...
Also just found out today that it looks like the Tour of California is moving to May...So we'll make sure to be around for some of that...

Santa Rosa has lots and lots of great rides. Can you give an intersection or address where you plan on starting your rides? P.S. likely you'll see multiple pro team riders out... i love this place..

We haven't even started to think about rides yet...Right now it's just finalizing a time to come, which I think we have done...Last 2 weeks of May, or there abouts.
We thought we had a place to stay, but that may have fallen through because my wife's friend has a cat. My wife is extremely allergic to cats, so that will be out....Unless the cat mysteriously has a misadventure j/k
Come hell or high water we're going! I've wanted to go to California since I started road riding and I'm not letting this one get away.

Still planning...
Curious if it would be worthwile to spend some time in the Sacremento area or would we be better off hunkering down in Santa Rosa and using that as our central hub for the rides.
Thanks,
Rich

Santa Rosa Cycling Club has a good rides list in and around the county...... You can join in a club ride just have to show up.......
Mid May.....kids are still in school and the weather is great... be careful our county does very little road work!!!!!

Definitely look into the Wine Country Century. If you do it, do the first part of the 200k. The descent out to the ocean has great views and is definitely worth it. You can cut the route short later, if you don't want to do the full 200k.
