Congrats! I did my first 20 miler on the bike trail too, only we went up to Folsom Lake and it was all bike trail riding. What a great place to ride. One of several reasons I wish I still lived up there.

I bought my first bike at Bob's bikes on Fair Oaks near sunrise and I cut my cycling teeth on that bike trail too. Nice job, soon you'll be doing double that distance

That's it, you are hooked. This is how it starts, cycling milestones are like a hit of crack. You always want another one. 20 milers are like a gateway drug to Half Centuries, Metrics, Centuries, Double Centuries and pure cycling madness.

I remember my first 20 mile ride. I was so proud of myself!
Now that you know what 20's like, why not go for 25? Remember to bring water, might as well go 30. I think you can register for the Davis Double now...

Thats great! Don't worry about your legs. If you are fitted properly its only a matter of time before your legs considers 20-30 as short rides.

Chuck, I may have passed you up by the new bridge early this afternoon. Were you taking a break just downriver from the new bridge? Is your bike blue? Riding a 30 miler and getting to Beals Point is a workout, especially after your first 20 miler yesterday. People on the trail are generally pretty cool, so just ask someone if you are going the right way. Another trining tip is to increase your time/distance about 10%/week. Too many miles/time can result in injury and discourage you from continuing. Take your time. You will be riding the long rides before you know it

Don't let it kill you. You have to stick around long enough to get in a lot of centuries
