Grizzly Century Interest Thread

I haven't seen anyone post a thread on this, and I've heard some good things about this ride. Is this on anybody's radar? I saw a flyer for it at my LBS and it caught my eye.

https://www.grizzlycentury.org/Grizzly2008/page2.html

Note: It is out of town, in North Fork, 20 miles south of Yosemite, so it is a bit of a trek. The century is > 10,000 feet climbing ...

This is held Saturday, October 3rd.

It's a great ride. I've done the century twice. Well supported, good food (known for sushi at one rest stop). I may consider doing it again this year.

Ron, it has some spectacular views of the Southern Dome Lands. The downhill from Beasore Meadows to Bass Lake is well worth the climb up the Grizz. Excellent support and food, you'll have a great time on this ride.

I have done it twice, one of my favorites. Limited to about 700-800 riders, very low traffic roads, nice scenery, and excellent support and value. They include a t-shirt in the price and provide free campsites along Bass Lake, and showers about 5 minutes from where the ride starts/ends.
The climbs are very manageable, grizzly is the most challenging with some steep but short grades. As mentioned above the descent from Beasore Meadows to Bass Lake is awesome unless your break a spoke at 40mph as I did on my first attempt (luckily on the rear wheel so I didn't crush and could finish).
Be prepared for various weather conditions. My first time the temperature was balmy, no warmers or wind breaker needed even at 7am. On my second one it got very frisky and started to snow at the top. It's a long way from the Bay Area but well worth the trip.

Not this year, but it's also one of my favorites. The year I did it there was slush and ice on a lot of the roads, so we didn't get to do that Bass Lake descent (too dangerous). It was still a great ride, and very scenic.

JB

edit: BTW, this has to be the easiest 10k of climbing ride I've done. There weren't any really tough, steep climbs - just plenty of long ones, with enough variety to keep it from being a total slog.

If anyone from the South Bay is doing this ride, I'll be happy to drive if you want to share gas.
