Looking for a WOMEN'S GROUP for my wife to ride with ?????

I used this forum to find the current GREAT group of guys I ride with.

I'm now looking for a WOMEN'S group for my wife to ride with.
She is 48 and wants to find some women to ride with.
She is a "newbie" and doesn't want to ride with a "club" that races etc.
She is looking for women to ride with on the weekends that does around 30 miles.

We are on the Pleasant Hill / Martinez border in N. Ca.

Thanks

Alameda Bicycle has their WOW (Women On Wheels) program with regular rides. http://alamedabicycle.com/page.cfm?pageId=291

Look for easy rides on the Valley Spokesmen site.

I know it might be a little out of the way, but the Solano Cycling Club seems to have a large group of females. They're on Yahoo Groups. Can't hurt to check out. I beleive they have "Ladies Only" rides too.

My wife really enjoys Team in Training. She's trained with them twice for the Solvang Century. The teams are about 98% women.http://www.teamintraining.org/ They also train people for Tri's and The Death Ride. There is the fund raising component to deal with but, it is a worthy cause. Cancer research.

It won't be much help for the OP or his wife, at least for the moment, but I thought I'd mention that the Fremont Freewheelers club has a series of training rides leading up to the women-only Cinderella ride.
http://fremontfreewheelers.org/cinderella/
The Mission of the Fremont Freewheelers Cinderella Training rides is: "To teach women to safely ride a bicycle in a group setting and to help them develop the skills needed to successfully complete the Valley Spokesmen Cinderella Classic." The Cinderella Classic is a 100 kilometer women-only bicycle ride sponsored by the Valley Spokesmen Bicycle Club.
That series already started in January, but might be something to keep in mind for next year. Other clubs closer to Pleasant Hill / Martinez might have similar ride series.

This was my own introduction to road cycling, many moons ago. :thumb:
