Looking for a good bike fit in Sac...

Any recommendations? Of all the bike shops in Sacramento, I'm not really happy with any of them. Most of the wrenches seem like kids who'd be better off working at a basic college bike co-op or something of that sort, and not a single shop employee I've talked to seems to have any real sense of customer's needs.

I've been riding for 4 years and am nowhere near clueless and am pretty confident I'm right on or close to it. I have however been developing some knee pain and think it may be related to my saddle or cleat position. Though I've never been fit, I'm not sure I trust anyone at City, Mikes, Biz, Mad Cat or Performance to make a better decision for me than I've already made. Maybe Bikes Plus in Folsom, or the Bike Chef? If anyone has any experiences with a bike fit in Sac town, I'd appreciate some details. Thanks!

Bicycle's Plus, Kinetic in Elk Grove, Folsom Bike...

No experience with propper fitting at any of those places, but the guys at Bicycles Plus took a long time with me when I got my new shoes and pedals a couple of weeks ago.

I've heard some decent things about Kinetic and I think Folsom Bike caters to some serious riders but they haven't been open long enough for me to hear a lot about them.

I've never heard of Folsom Bike, my commute takes me from El Dorado Hills through Folsom en route to the ARBT, I'll have to drop in there and check them out. My brother also told me about Rex, who will be spendy but is well thought of...

Clayton Meeks. He's really good. Helped me out a lot. I had a lot of aches and pains riding, knee problems, foot problems, etc. No more. Excellent credentials too. Prices are reasonable. Here's a link to his web site: https://claysfitstudio.com/ He's located by Folsom Bike. Let him know I sent you.

UC Davis Medical Center. Better than any shop. Seriously. They fit the UCD Cycling team (National Champions) as well as a whole bunch of local teams.

+1 for Clay. Super cool guy and definitely knows his stuff. His shop is located inside Athleticamps right next to Folsom Bike.

Knee pain? I would go straight to UC Davis medical center and ask for Judd. The extra travel time is waay waay worth it.

I like Judd (UCDMC), Bruce (Kinetic), or Clay (Folsom Bike).

+1 on Judd at UCD. He is a biomechanical engineer and a bike racer. He can figure out if your biomechanics are caused by improper bike fit, structural problems (ACL issues, back problems), or a combination of both. If it is just fit, he can solve your problems. If it is a combination of bike fit and your biomechanics, he will get the bike fitting you as best as possible and give you specific exercises to correct (or at least help) the problem. Plan on about three hours for a fit.

Dirk Manley did my last fit and he was great.

I'd also recommend Mike Beretta personally.

No testimonials, but I assume this guy Rob Kopitske is good too...

Also, my mechanic swears by a guy at Davis Wheelworks... Can't remember the name, but he'll fit you for a Cervelo for no charge.
