Wish I could have made it, but the rest was a better choice for me. My knee is actually feeling pretty good after yesterday's ride! The illness is getting better too.
Plus I get to ride with Ruthie for the first time in a while tomorrow Not that you guys aren't awesome company
So good ride yesterday, recover, hard tandem ride tomorrow. Looking OK for DMD.

I only signed on for two, due to time constraints
Got a PR 68min on SGR, then a slower-paced 84min NGR. Climbing the wall 2nd time wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.
It's always nice to catch up with the crew.

It was good to see you out there. The third time up the wall wasn't that bad either. Some car was stuck behind me, but I had not enough energy to care.

Turn off auto-pause and auto-stop, or something like that. It's got this weird bug where if you stop it, and it interferes with the auto-stop, it will not write the file. I have turned off auto-pause, auto-stop, and everything else auto, and haven't had a problem since. Before, it would lose all my data, and pissed me off.

I only did two, and I didn't even make all the way to the summit the first time. Legs were shot by the time I came up from the north side, and didn't go to the summit the second time, so I didn't have the same elevation gain that everyone else had.

No-one mentioned the flies. Unknown to us, the World Congress of annoying small, black flies was being held at the lower parking lot yesterday. I think I inadvertently ate a delegate at Devil's elbow. You're just getting ready for the summit wall, and all of a sudden you were covered in 'em. The descent through that was like riding through warm hail.

My heart rate didn't even come close to that. I guess I'm not working hard enough, even though I was completely exhausted by the time we were ready to go down the mountain.

That was fun! I've been kind of slow lately but I was feeling ok yesterday. The good company and awesome scenery must have helped. I've never seen so many flowers on Diablo.
My Edge 500 crapped out too, it froze when I hit the lap button on the top of the second trip. It took me a while to figure out that I was not putting out 240 watts on the descent. I managed to restart it but it missed 6 or 8 miles of descending.

Others seem to be having lots of problems with the 500, but mine has always work perfect. I think it's because I didn't upgrade the firmware???

Chris's HR graph has time on the x-axis, so it looks like ~5hrs or so of moving time, it was ~3:40 or so for me.

I was out there for 2 as well...on my way down the South Side (maybe around 1PM?) I passed an ambulance heading up with lights/horns blaring. Never a good sign...did anyone see/hear of anything?

Neither saw nor heard any ambulance yesterday, but with the millions of hikers, it could have been anything.

Nice! You guys climb a lot faster than me - Ygduf's 3rd summit was about the pace I do when I'm only doing one.....
The flies are normal for this time of year - I actually look for a breezy day to climb so that they are minimized. They seem to clear out by the middle of June.

We must have been descending SGR at about the same time, I recall being at the summit at ~12:40 or so. I did see a fire truck that had pulled in at one of the picnic grounds on Summit Rd - maybe it was related.

Anyways, climbing the wall the third time was actually the best part of the third ascent.

I didn't see an ambulance, but there was a paramedic with the siren screeching, that went up while I was waiting at the ranger's station. In the back of my mind, I feared it was one of you guys, but when Donald came screaming down, I got off my keester, and headed down too.

Looks painful. But awesome. I did a similar 75 miler with 4800ft climbing yesterday in SoCal - but held 160+ for only about 55 minutes of it and that was bad enough!
