But given the bicycle's susceptibility to potholes etc., I can't see how it's safe to ride much more than 10 MPH, in spite of what some people recommend.

Strangely, when I heard that an environmentalist had attacked cyclists with a saw, Vandeman came instantly to mind. For those who aren't aware of him, Mikey Vandeman was one of the great USENET trolls of the nineties and early two thousands, famous (or infamous) for his one person campaign against mountain bicyclists in alt.mountain-bike and other forums.

Vandeman is clearly mentally ill. I hope he now gets the help he needs. And I don't mind if that is in a prison setting.
